I haven't check anywhere else, but Whitefish, at least, is probably NOT going to open this weekend.

I saw on TV that Snowbowl has opened last weekend.

If anyone knows the status of other resorts in the region, post it here.

I hear Schweitzer and Lookout/Silver Mountain are already open. And i think Fernie is looking to open this weekend. Pretty sure we're gonna be last to open.

Are you going to the Why We Ride movie on Friday?  My daughter knows I think five of the guys who appear in it.  It's at the middle school, I think.  Maybe YOU'RE in it??

Now confirmed that WMR is not opening this weekend.  No new date proposed, either.

Whitefish will finally "open" this Saturday, but only Chair 7 (three trails), Chair 3, and Chair 6.  Plan to go Sunday if I here there is still snow left after opening day.

Guess Big mtn did not want Blacktail to open before they did.

i'd rather go to Blacktail anyway, less crowds.

Blacktail has better coverage,I skied there two weeks ago they had more snow at the bottom then WMR had at the summit.

Been to Blacktail twice, both times in the spring because they were open an extra weekend.  Both times the drive canceled out any "gain".  16 minutes to the Big, 1 hour 45 to Blacktail.  Easy choice.  Crowds?  Skip Saturday.

I have a pass at WMR but the coverage at the bottom of chair 7 is very thin.Blacktail has a lot more snow,I will ski there this weekend.

If i'm not mistaken, Blacktail's summit is higher than WMR, so i imagine the base is too.

The best time to go to Blacktail is Christmas. I can justify the drive to Blacktail when WMR is a zoo.

Hmm, interesting thought.  $10 more for gas, but lift ticket only $36.  Might be okay expedition for one day if they are fully open.  I'll have to think about that one.
