Salomon Czar or Atomic Blog skis?

Hi,

First let me start by saying sorry I always feel like I make a thread about skis but I have really narrowed my question down this time. here is what kind of skier I am:

I can ski the whole mountain but I am working to get better in crud and more speed and smoothness especially on steeper terrain. I am learning spins, doing a bunch of 180's just to get better switch and then I'll work on 360's. My skis now are too short, have no rocker and 90mm underfoot, kinda makes the ultimate combination of suck in powder. I am not saying new skis will make me a way better skier but there will come a point when my skis will hold me back. However, I am trying to make the most out of my skis as far as spins because I know it's gonna be harder to start a spin on longer heavier skis. So yeah, the title says which two skis I have narrowed it down to from size available to stock, rocker or not, etc. My question is which of these two skis will work best for me and allow me to use for at least all of this season through all of next? I like the Blog because it has a tail rocker and I know that would help in powder switch. I already know how hard it is to stay balanced in deep powder going straight with no rocker I can imagin landing backwards virtually standing on the front of the boards (unless I get center mount which I won't most likely.) I don't like that they come in sizes 177-185. I feel like the 185 would be far too big but I saw someone said the 177 is soft and disappointing. I also don't know if 177 will be big enough considering I am still growing and want a ski i can use this season and next. Maybe i won't grow at all who knows. I like the Czar because 182 seems like a good size that may be slightely big for me now but it will give stability at speed, I don't like it because there is no tail rocker and maybe the 182 is too big?

Thanks

Oh and I forgot to say, I am 5'8ish right now and 135 lbs.

I would say the Blog is more what you are looking for. I had a pair of the 185's. We are almost the same height, but I have some poundage on you. I imagine you are still growing, and if memory serves me right you ski Alta. I think the Blog is what you will be more happy with in the long run, and looks to be closer to the kind of ski you are looking for.

Should I go with the 177? Because originally I was going to go with the Czar but I heard they are really heavy and the blog skis have tail rocker.

185's for sure, they ski short, and are pretty nimble.

Skied today with someone on the 185 Blogs. He's about your height/weight -- looked like a good fit.

Are you sure? I know a kid like 6'3 180 lbs on 185 Chopsticks??? 185 would be like 2 feet over my head, I am just kidding but that would be huge and I don't know if it would be too much ski for me. I am not like an expert charge skier, I would maybe like a slightely shorter ski since it would be easier to do spins no?

Actually it would be about 5 inches. The chopstick is a way different ski than the blog in any case.

I was just kidding about the 2 feet but still, I bet there would be full grown men who ride similar skis smaller than that 185. I just feel like I don't have the ability and/or strength to manipulate a ski of that size. Maybe it is a ski that skis longer than most rocker skis 185 I don't know. But 185 seems a little crazy to me. Not to mention I am trying to get better at spins and the 185s might actually feel like I am trying to rotate full size helicopter blades. There are down sides though with the 177, I could outgrow it too fast etc. But I am moving more and more away from the Czar, (not completely yet however)

Thanks

But I think it is funny how half say 177 and other half say 185 (just in general)

I'm just saying from experience skiing the 185 blog, that it's not that much of a ski, and you will definitely enjoy the added length in the pow. Just mount them on the team line, and you won't even notice that they are that big. This will keep you from outgrowing the ski in one season like you did with your last pair.

Sounds promising. Keep in mind though I am probably not as good as you think I might be, early last winter is when I got out of skiing the blue runs at Alta, I did progress to a pretty good level by the end of the season with all of the skiing I did, but I am not tearing apart the mountain sending it on huge cliffs like some of the guys up there.

Oh and what do you think of these kids?  http://www.newschoolers.com/watch/377416.0/Alta-Boys-Season-Edit?t=6

I am about there ability as far as just skiing goes not the tricks but I can do those drops.

I e-mailed Atomic and they said I should go with the 177 team mount for the tight terrain of Alta. I'll probably just do that.

Any reason you're not considering the Access from Atomic? 181 would work nicely for you I think.

Just a suggestion.

It's a half twin really, with early rise in the tip. Different animal, definitely not what he is looking for clearly.

What about an Armada TST????  It sounds right up your alley.

Too directional for what he is looking for.
