Helly Hansen Jacket sizes

I just purchased a Helly Hansen "swift" jacket from Helly Hansen online.  It maybe this model or the brand in general, but I have never had to get an XL jacket ever.  The large was good in length, but very small across chest and shoulders as well as very tight in forearms.   At 5-10 180 large as always been ample , even my old Spyder size L is a bit big.  Luckily they swapped it for an XL no problems.  So if you find yourself buying Helly Hansen online,  you may want to go up a size, and not feel quilty that you gained weight

Interesting ... recently purchased a Helly Hansen Freeze 1/2 Zip base layer top.  I am usually between a Large and Medium for these garments, depending upon whether they are cut on the big side or just average.  I bought the Large size for the Helly Hansen top and, when I received it, it was actually too small for me ... especially tight around neck and shoulders.  I have also never been an XL in anything.

Strange, I found the Medium Helly Hansen fleece and Shell I ordered to be just about right for me, but then maybe I'm near the size for a small.  I'm also only 5' 6", so perhaps that helped with the better fit.

We carry H/H in our shop and we found that this years ski jackets are running about 1 size small.  I haven't tried on their fleece so not sure if it is true their as well.  But the ski jackets for men are running small.

Yes, even the  rep from Helly Hansen said the jackets run about a size small, Im finding the jackets are more "euro" sizing, so to speak.  I also tried on a midlayer quarter zip fleece in Large at a local store that was too tight in the shoulders, I have similiar items from North Face and EMS that all are large with ample room.   Nothing against Helly at all, love their stuff, just seem to have to go up a size from the norm.

Last year I saw a H/H technical shell at my local store, but the XL was too tight in the chest and back.

Just yesterday I tried on a clearance XL poofy down (Quebec Checked) and it fit perfect.  Man that thing was cozy...I jsut couldn't justify the price.

Maybe there's a difference between models?

could be, there def seems to be models out there that specify "cut"  Going to end up as confusing as trying to find jeans , loose, relaxed, skinny, boot, lowrise, easy fit...?????? lol
