Having recently bought a pair of Volkl Gotama for those powder days, I realized that they were a bit too much for me to handle on groomers (especially trying to make shorter turns), and so I'm looking into getting a pair of pure carvers. I've found some pretty good deals on the skis in the title (used), and would very much appreciate some advice. I've browsed here already for reviews and opinions, but still don't know what would fit me the best, since they all sound like good choices. I'm about 5'9'' and 150lbs, intermediate skier (level 7) looking for something with which I could do rather short turns, still being able to lay down some long ones. I should note again that off-piste performance is not an issue.
I'm especially curious as to how well the SX9, being a couple of years old by now, stacks up to the more recent models (assuming the condition is good). Also, I haven't been able to find a lot about the Strato. Anyone got an opinion?
Furthermore, I should note that the length of the skis differ somewhat, the SX9 being a 170, the Contact Ltd a 172, the Waveflex a 168 and the Strato a 173. And last but not least, price is a factor - the Strato and the Waveflex costing me roughly 200 bucks more than the Contact and the SX9.
Oh, and good ice grip would be a bonus. Even if I'll spend this winter in Whistler, I plan on bringing the skis back to Swedish conditions afterwards, assuming I like them of course. :)
