Better buy Rossi's or your boots will self destruct when they are placed into ................................................

Congrats to the well chosen winners! I must admit I'm partial to old school's ski joring story...but pat u's still having the skis hanging on the wall probably clinched it. Amazing, can't make that stuff up.

Also enjoyed MasterRacers story, dude where's the ez rider outfit? - you could've won, and James J with his girls.

Will never forget the brown Strato 102 with the beautiful blue bases. It was amazing to actually have a new pair as a kid. Even if they were as tall as my fingers arm held straight up. First real ski I ever had, and the last for many years. Made me feel I could do anything when I looked down and saw the rooster at the tip.

MastersRacer could've entered this taken last season:

judges, just sayin'......

1978 Rossi gloves *

Bouton goggles

Scott 'pointless' poles

Langes (bought for 50 cents at a senior rummage sale; never worn)

1978 US Team DH suit *

1974 jacket made by my mom *

'Easy Rider' helmet - a modern replica gifted to me by a friend

Skis and skier survived with a big grin. The skis actually perform very well still. Edges and bases are in great condition. You have to step the first couple of turns, but then they bend and arc with sufficient speed.

Thanks, Tog. I thought the picture with Billy Kidd might have more clout than the one with my old man. wink.gif

If Billy Kidd was known as a Rossignol skier and not a Hart skier. Besides, I have met your old man and Billy Kidd..I would sooner have a beer with your old man.

Just got the skis - they look great, thanks!  Any suggestions on best bindings to get?

Philpug, thanks. I'll pass that on. My dad is a K2 man, so I went with the higher profile star.

Perhaps you can post a question about this in the Ski Gear discussion area and get some replies.  The Rossignol site recommends the Rossignol Axium 120, but that may depend on your ski level and stats.

I'm taking the boots out for the first time tomorrow. A-Basin, on demo skis. Review to follow.

DSCF1504.JPG  Thanks again!  Looking forward to some snow!

Hi All,

I test drove the boots last Wednesday at Arapahoe Basin. I demoed the Rossignol Experience 88 skis. I was limited to intermediate runs since there were not any expert runs open yet. Pray for snow here. The boots are great. A perfect blend of holding the foot in place and leaving enough circulation to keep the feet alive. I had an adventure this day crashing bad on the jump in the terrain park. You can watch the video below for more info and photo of my smashed face. Anyway, I love my prize boots and I'm looking forward to more snow. The Colorado resorts got some this Saturday and a little more on it's way tomorrow morning. Still, more snow, please.

Thanks for your test drive report, Old School. Congrats on the new boots!

Can't wait to hear how you like the new skis when you take them out, Pat!

Nice report!

That camera has a really nice looking picture. Almost film like.

So you crashed the first day with a helmet and ended up in the er?

Have you considered joining in on one of the helmet threads?   smile.gif

Thanks nolo and Tog. The camera is a Sony Bloggie. It is a pocket video camera with pretty amazing resolution. Easy to carry while skiing. The video quality around now days is astounding to me--Old School video guy too. I shot it in 1080/30p and then rendered to HD-MP4 before posting to YouTube.

Yep 1st day with a helmet and I knock myself out. I don't know how much the helmet played into my accident since I landed on my chin/face. What I needed was an air bag! I'll take a look at the helmet threads.

Many concussions are caused by the lower jaw impacting the upper jaw. That's why many athletes now use mouth guards. It protects the teeth but also helps prevent or reduce concussion.

Like Lindsey?

Interesting.

I didn't know much about it. Underarmour's Bite tech is claiming a lot of performance benefits also.

My Jaw is still sore, but getting better slowly. Maybe I need a mouth guard. However, I prefer to limit myself at this age to skiing a bit more conservatively including no or little air. Maybe since I'm wearing a helmet now, I need to start leading with my head. After all, I'm not in the NFL, so no penalties should apply.

No or little air.  This reminds me of the old Olin Ski ad with Smooth Johnson You want big air pull my finger

Over the years I've had quite the collection of skis.  Some Rossi's, some not. One day while skiing with the "hot" guys on the hill, I was intrigued by a pair of skis that arguably the best guy on the mt. was ripping it up on to the point where no one could catch him!  Even though I'm a woman, my big feet allowed me to step right into those bad boys( a pair of Cx80 classic's).  I made my first truly beautiful GS turns at mac speed and haven't looked back.  Except to check if any of the guys are gaining on me!  One day I came out of the lodge and noticed something different about my skis...Hhmmm?  The guys had put some stickers across my skis.  They said a picture's worth a thousand words......And the best part of the story is that at the age of 50, I have more than 10 years on every one of those "hot rodders"!

This  old Rossi Factory Team jacket should be in a museum. I think it's special because it is so bright it probably glows in the dark!

An airbag has been invented. It fits in a jacket's collar. Presently it  'opens' automatically  if a bicycle rider is knocked by a car, falls frontwards or sideways etc. I'm pretty sure it'll end up in ski gear (and may even double as avi gear).
