Atomic VF 82 or Volkl Grizzly?

I'm 48 years old, 240lbs and like to ski groomers at light speed top to bottom (40-50mph).  Have skied for 35 years in the northeast.  Currently on Fischer RC4 GS in 191 cm.  While these skis are second to none on hard pack or harder, they are useless on crud and corn and forget about anything soft.  Also they are a bit too much to ski all day and never any good under 35 mph.

Looking for something good to ski fast but also more versitile.  When I ski with the fam, would like to ski something that handles slower speeds.  I am one to buy new skis but older models on Ebay so please don't recommend anything in this year's model.  I'm too cheap!  Need guidance on a good versitile ski for a heavy powerful sack such as myself.   Thanks in advance.

Soem last years (same as this years) Blizzard M-Power. A better ski than the Grizzly at both high and low speeds. I would also say the Atomic Crimson Ti could be a good contender.

^^^^  What he said!  You will not find a ski you can go faster on yet still ski relatively easily at slow speeds than the 181 M-Power.  Might be able to find some of last years around somewhere.

Remind me to keep the kids out of your way when you flash past at 50 mph. rolleyes.gif  ^^^^ This, properly spelled. I have the G-Power. Magic, would own the M if I had room. Wrong site to talk about being cheap. Man up: Pack your own lunches at the slopes for 20 days, or skip that second brew afterwards for the season, and you've paid for the difference. As said, you can find some of last year's around new, sans early rise, for way less than 1 K. Second choice: Elan Apex. Does everything well. Check with Dawgcatching about last year's models. Third choice: Still some 2010-2011 Mythic Riders around online, new and cheap and good for a bigger guy. Not the greatest for NE hardpack, but doable. Fourth choice: Head Peak 88's, the ugly grey and black ones from 2009-2010. Still here and there new, great for bigger guy, same cons as MR.

Look at the Atomic D2 over the Volkl Grizzy for over all frontside skiing. Look at the inline race skis, if you like your GS ski. They are a little softer then a stock race, and do not meet std. of FIS. There are alot of great frontside skis. They just don't get looked at, for the market is controled by allmt. skis.

I do like the VF82, but I'm 30 lbs lighter than you.
