Avalanches are a powerful force. Wow

Was this set off with a hand charge?  Amazing how fast it ran!

Yes, 2kg worth.

That is so cool. Man!

Whoa!  Were they flying up there with the intent of skiing that before it let loose?

I think they are the ones who set it off. (on purpose)

It must be fun to set those things off (intentionally, that is).

Wow, that thing was really hauling ass!

Yeah those wonderful events courtesy of nature, are no joke. You can't out ski them. (If your going down though. You might as well give it a shot.) That second one (helping) is a frightening thing. I don't know if it was a man made triggered event after the first. If it wasn't. Can you imagine if you survived the first by some miracle and the second takes off at you from behind? You could say it was your time.

Check this out. I don't know if you've seen it before. It looks pretty real to me and not a staged event.

A great reason to ONLY ski back country with those that are of a mature mind and have the proper set of skills for being out there. Come back with stories and don't be the story.

This looks a lot like the video of the skier in Alaska who managed to survive with the help of an Avalung. You can see him insert the Avalung in his mouth, near the beginning of the slide, once he realizes he's been caught. That peculiar puffing sound is the sound of the Avalung working. Black Diamond has been showing this video for a few years now. As a marketing tool it's pretty effective. I bought an Avalung after seeing it.
