Beacon Upgrade

Thread Starter

My friend is getting into BC this year and is in need of a beacon.  I have my Tracker and was thinking of upgrading to the tracker 2 and selling my Tracker to my friend.  Currently the tracker 2 is on sale for $249 so i thought why not.  I've looked up reviews of the Tracker 2 and apparently is a good improvement. Is the tracker 2 a worthy upgrade from the older model or should i be searching for something better?

Yes.  The third antenna makes for faster searches by eliminating 'spikes.'

Not really.  The Tracker 2 is a very good beacon, and if you are familiar with it and practice with it, it will serve you well.

Dammit.  I opened this because I thought it said "Bacon" upgrade.  I was pretty confused at first.

Never mind.

How would you upgrade bacon?  Is that even possible?

I feel more comfortable knowing he has a beacon that he's had some experience using. That and he can't afford a new beacon.

I need to get myself some bacon now.

I have a Tracker and an S1.   I really like the Tracker and BCA, but the S1 has about 50% more range?  The S1 does take a little more practice.

The S1 looks nice, but it's out of my price range.

Yeah.  He bought a shovel and probe last year when we went to play in Delirium Dive at Sunshine Village.  He borrowed a BCA tracker from a co worker, i have the same one so i showed him how to use it. He's married and needs to run everything by his wife before he buys something. Lucky me i get to spend all my money on myself cause i'm single yahoo.gif
