I've got 8 year old skis/bindings/boots and I'm looking to get new equipment all around. I am a closest ski bum that doesn't keep up on the latest gear, I'm hoping you can give me some recommendations.
Here is some background. Every year, we go to Park City Utah for about 2 weeks of skiing. I live in the mid-atlantic, so while I may go skiing here once or twice during the year, these skis are meant for out west.
I am 6'4'' and 160 pounds (tall and lanky), in Utah, I'll hit up any part of the mountain and ski it well, including a little backcountry with a very limited amount of hiking. I love skiing the powder, but wouldn't consider myself an expert (I am an expert at groomers), and since I'm in Utah for 2 weeks straight, I'll likely get a few powder days, but there will be pleanty of groomer days as well.
I'm looking for equipment that can handle the powder well (problem with my current setup), but can also take on groomers and go barrelling down the mountain on some fast runs. I'm thinking a front rocker may be what I need in a ski, but rocker technology didn't even exist last time I bought my skis so I'm a bit clueless.
My last set of boots caused some extreme pain in the outer ankle which I'd very much like to avoid. Pricewise, looking to pay $1800 or less (hopefully less), anyone have recommendations for skis, boots, bindings, or all 3?
