when was the oakley a-frame originally released?

i'm finally retiring an old pair of oakley a-frames, which i pre-ordered from my bike shop before the initial release of the model.  someone recently asked me how long i've been wearing them, and i actually don't remember.  seems recent, but i know it's not.  does anyone remember when they originally went on sale?  just curious how long i've been wearing these things!

no oakley historians on here?  fwiw, our two differing guesses are 1996 and 1998.  called oakley and the person i got had no idea.  i didn't push it any further, cause obviously this is not something with which to occupy someone's work time.

According to Oakely's website timeline, it was 1998.

Hope you don't mind shipping that case of beer to Canada for me wink.gif

Ah bummer, I was hoping the case was my prize LOL rolleyes.gif

Oakley's website has a History Timeline (it's a bit buried in their site though).  Shows all major product releases, tech launches, etc.  A-Frames are shown as 1998.

HOWEVER, it just shows it as a graphic, not text.  So I can't verify 100%, sorry.  Looks like 1998 though.  I can't link it because it's like a flash thing, there is no hotlink that will take you right there.

I emailed James Castro at Oakley awhile back about some goggle info, he was very helpful with my questions.  He's Oakley's Lead Design Engineer for goggles.  If you really want to settle this, try asking him.  His email:  JCastro@oakley.com

Sorry I can't nail it down 100% for ya man.

thanks a lot!  we'll just go with 1998... i don't want to be bothering any oakley higher-ups with our wager
