The 1st ever early season alpine camp @ Sun Valley 11-19-11 to 11-23-11. As the the head of the ski patrol said " nobody told me there were going to be freestyle skiers.
So we set out on the blue line drill which is just what a dogger needs so we can see the line.
The freestyle skiers goal was to move forward more in the turn to get speed by getting the hips moving. Next we went with the alpine team asked the coach what they were working on in GS. He replied " we are working on moving more forward to start the turns for speed." Seemed we are working on the same thing.
To do this the skier must not only move with the body but the hands must help the skier in this movement.
To me it is all the same but different. Quick turns or GS that is.
Would like to hear ideas on moving forward for the new turn?
Sorry about the air training but this is our training video.
