Volkl Bridge Length?

I'm looking at buying a set of either 2011 or 2012 Bridge's but can't seem to decide between the 171 or 179.  I'm 6'0" and weight 173lbs.

I ski about 10 days a year for the past 16 years and have always skiied out west but will be skiing east as well this year.  I'd consider myself an intermediate to advanced skiier.  Love to ski moguls, bowls, and pow but don't do much touring or back country at the moment.  I also prefer cutting ability to pure speed.  I've typically skiing a shorter ski (170 range), but have been reading that the Bridge skis shorter due to the rocker.  This year I'll be skiing a lot at Stowe so I'll have to consider those conditions as well.

For my height/weight/experience I seem to be between a ski length of 171 or 179 so I'm just looking for everyone's opinion.  Thanks!

Hey there,

Welcome to Epic.  Reading through your post, my take is to go with the 179.  Given  your weight, skill level and preference for Western skiing, it seems like the right call.  I have the 185 and am bigger than you and find it very manageable.  Given that you are still progressing in your skiing AND will be out West some, I think you will like the longer length and there will be minimal penalty for skiing that length back East.  Just my .02.  It was a great all mtn. ski 3 years ago when I bought it and still seems to be highly regarded even though it now has some rocker in the tip.

Based on all the information in your post, I would also say the 179 is likely going to be the best option.  The rocker will make the ski feel a little bit shorter and the slightly longer length should help if we have deep snow in Stowe, or you decide head out West.

We do have the 2011 and 2012 model available in both sizes, the 2011 model is eligible for an extra 15% our sale pricing with free shipping to the lower 48 in the US putting the price at $441.15.  We also offer free mounting if you would like to add a binding, we would just need your boot sole length.

Is the Dynastar (2010) PX 12 100mm binding a good binding for this ski?

The 2011 and 2012 are structurally the same, only changes were the graphics.

I'll just say this: I skied the 170 ( cuz that's what they had) last year at Snowbasin -- lots of fresh, crud, some groomer. I am almost same description as you, but shorter, 5' 8". I'm primarily an eastern skier, with eastern style and preferences. I never really found the ski short. So while I might say the suggestion of 179 is sound, for me I wouldn't be worried about the shorter length if that's where you end up.
Just my $0.02.
