Volkl Mantra vs Blizzard M-Power

5' 8" 145# EC advanced skier/racer looking for a "fun" ski to use all mountain/front side in New York and Maine.  I can get both for pretty much the same price.  The Mantra would be 170cm and the M-Power would be 174cm.  Both are 2011, so they both have the rocker in them.

Thoughts?

Given your target description.....this is not even close. The M-Power is far and away the better ski for what you are asking for.

I demoed both on Saturday.  Hard, man-made snow and ice.  The M-power was awesome and the Mantra felt a bit "plankish".  I second Jim's opinion.

IMO that's to much (98) ski for a one ski for the east.

If you want to go wide try one of the 88mm waisted skis. I bought the Volkl Kendo last Feb and use it most day's at Okemo.

I demoed a couple of more 88mm skis yesterday the Nordica and a Kessile and didn't find them as intitutive as my Kendo's. I also do my own tuning so I'm never on a badly tuned ski.

I did love the Volkl RTM 84 I'm thinking that is the ski you should get, RACEDUDE

At your 5'8" and 145lbs you should try the 166cm http://volkl.com/ski/skiis/models/RTM%2084

If the pic in the avatar is Racedude himself......then no. The RTM 84 is not the ski he should get. Not even close.

I'm with SierraJim. If you lived at the base of Squaw this thread would contain different answers, but you don't, so it doesn't.

I'm quite flattered you'd confuse me with Bode Miller, Jim!  That being said, the RTM84 is still definitely not my ski (and if it was I'd probably get the 176, not 166).  I got the M-Power in a 174 a couple days ago.  Just mounted them up yesterday and am ready to take it out as soon as we get some snow.
