Planning a west coast trip in mid march.

Hello all,

Looking for advice on a trip from the interior of British Columbia (kamloops/sun peaks resort) to San Fransisco.  Need to visit brother and family who live in San Fran and thought it would be a good 2-3 week trip four-five days down and 3 days back, stay in san fran for three days.  So that being said if you could what resorts would you stop at on the trip.  I could go down the I-5 corridor or I could go on the other side of the coastal mountains.  My thought would be 2-3 stops on the way down and 1-2 stops on the way back.  Let me know your thoughts.

Chris

Here's my $.02 USD on what you should do.

Drive directly to Mt. Bachelor in Oregon.  You would have to research whether you would rather drive down the east side of the Cascades or work your way over to I-5.  The eastern drive is much more pleasant as long as there isn't lots of snow or ice on the roads.  After that stay on that side of the mountains and go to Tahoe where you will spend a couple of days at one or more of the resorts there.  Then on to San Fran.

On your way home, drive up I-5 all the way to Crystal Mountain, WA.  Possibly hit Mt. Baker after that since it's about an hour off of your route back to Kamloops.  Then drive home.

I hope you like road trips because it's a long way.

Ouch. That's over 1000 miles. I'd drive to Seattle, take an Alaska or Southwest flight to Reno, ski Tahoe a bunch, return the rental car in SF, then fly back to Seattle from SFO or Oakland to get your car back.

But if you're going to drive, I like Posaune's advice. Bachelor is a fun place, and Tahoe in March is amazing.

I love the drive.  And stopping for a day to ski just makes it better.

Tanks for the advice

Chris
