Volkl AC30 Binding concern - looking for tech advice

Hello All,

I recently purchased a pair of used AC30's and had my local ski shop do a complete tune and boot fitting (the shop is a ski only shop and has been around forever).  Upon getting them home and giving them a good looking over, I discovered something unsettling. When I grabbed the front binding, it seemed to be very wobbly. I could twist it side to side and rock it nose to tail. This occurs on both skis.

When I locked my boot into the binding everything is tight but it looks like the tail of the front binding is tilting up and the nose tilting down.

Ok now the question: Should I be concerned about this?

Thanks in advance.

The looseness is common with this binding when there is no boot in it. No worries there.

The second question has to do with forward pressure. This will depend on WHICH year AC30 you have. what is the MM width of the ski? if it is 76mm then it is a Logic binding and if it is 80mm, a Griffon type binding.

Forward pressure on the Logic:

Looking at the heel from the back, there should be a screw near the bottom that will have a triangular scribe on it. When the boot is IN the binding that scribed screw should be partially visible.

Forward Pressure on the Griffon style:

Looking at the heel from the back, there should be a silver screw near the bottom. When the boot is IN the binding that screw should be flush with the housing.

If neither of these are happening, the foreword pressure could be wrong and bring the binding back to the shop and have them retest it. Again it is IS wrong, thee binding shouldn't have passed a proper release testing either.

They are 76 in width. I'll take a good look at things this evening after work.

Thanks again.

These look to be the same as 2006 AC3 and are 2007-2008-2009 AC30. I have the 2006 version and have the same problem - wobbling of the integrated bindings (Markers iPT11s, you might have 12 or 11 with piston, doesn't matter...)

Not an issue though - once you click in wobbling goes away. Had the same question posted here:
