Need some advice from Salt lake locals

Four of us traveling to Utah Feb.

Can you advice a company that hires out 4x4 vehicles.

Everyone seems to do SUV's only,  we are most likely targeting snowbasin and Powder Mountian but may get time to do some others.

I am thinking 4x4 will avoid the need for chains or lock out of roads.   Is this something we need to be planning for or just go with the SUV?

.

We are staying in Morgan,  but fly into Salt Lake so will need to pick car up from there.

Huh, what?

SUV's ARE typically 4 x 4's. Hertz can rent you jeeps, hummers (maybe still) if that's your bent, or Chevy's, fords, etc that are 4 x 4's. All the others can too.

What are you saying is the difference between a 4 x 4 and SUV? Very few SUV's in SLC rentals are 2 x 4.

Anyway, I've never been stopped with anything from a RAV4 to a Tahoe or Exploder for LCC or BCC, much less Snowbasin.

Locals don't rent cars, us ski tourists do though!  The cheapest 4x4 is a small SUV, I reserved one a few weeks ago, but they were closed out on Orbitz, I think i got it from the Advantage web site.  Hertz used to rent the Subaru Forester 4x4 which was the best 4x4 deal, but I can't get one on their website or Orbitz.  You shouldn't need chains, just a 4 wheel drive SUV.  Maybe 50/50 you won't even need that if it doesn't snow.  The off airport places are cheaper, but my pal had trouble with some of those wrecks they rented us over the years.
