Winter Park Conditions & First Weekend Open Terrain?

Winter Park just moved their opening date up to the 12th from the 16th.  Not that much earlier, but I'm thinking of surprising my wife with a day at WP on Sunday for our anniversary, just the two of us, no kiddos.  Anybody know what is likely to be open?

If it's the obligatory one run with 20 minute lift lines we'll probably pass, but a bit more and it could be fun as conditions should be pretty decent.

Thanks beercheer.gif

Not much is really going to be open this weekend. Zephyr won't be running. Just Arrow, Gemini, and Endeavor.  There may be hordes of new ski & snowboard instructors in training on the slope(s) - like 150 new instructors.  Return instructors will be sitting through REO over at the Jane base area and then eating the free food and frosty beverages.

Probably won't be big lift lines.  The snow should be good.  Bizzard warning tomorrow in the mountains. Predicted 90 mph winds tomorrow.  Looks like some hike-to terrain park features will be open.  Go on the Winter Park Facebook page to get the latest from Mistalynn and her new assistant.

If I remember to bring my camera I'll try to take some pictures.  No guarantees on picture content - could wind up with pics of people sitting at a table all with bottles balanced on their heads.

Thanks, appreciate it.  We are definitely sitting this weekend out - it does look like conditions will be good, but with just the lower mountain lifts running not worth the risk of Berthoud being closed for the storm.

Suppose I can do the sitting around the table with a bottle from here beercheer.gif.

Thanks for the Facebook link, will bookmark that one.

Gary DeFrange the WP CEO started off the morning meeting.   He said to expect top to bottom as early as next week.  Lots of exciting changes this year and in coming years.

We got to watch this Winter Park Resort recruiting video.  Recognized a few people.  The picture of the skibikers was my class - didn't realize they took it. redface.gif  The video really does highlight the terrain that can be found at the resort.

It spitted snow all day but roads remained dry except for Berthoud Pass.  A bit icy up there coming back this evening.  No wind either.  Where's this blizzard????

Lots of people on the hill.  I didn't get up there myself.  Too busy with Ski School stuff and catching up with people.

There is free parking in the parking garage through 11/15/11.

Forgot the camera and there were no frosty beverages today.

A pic from a few seasons ago.  Faces are blacked out to protect the guilty.
