So, it will have taken 30 years, but I finally get the chance to ski the rockies! I'm going with my father, a gift he gives himself for his retirement, first time for him as well.
We're unsure about the destination, most likely Revelstoke (Nelsen Lodge), but contemplating Kicking Horse and Fernie. We're looking for a departure on feb 14th. What a great valentine's day this will be! Needless to say, the wife does not agree :) I started this thread so I can post about the trip preparation and everything, up until I actually take the first chair on feb 15th... It's also a place where I expect you guys to share any experience or advice... as I said, first time in the Rockies!
I drove across Canada this past february, from Quebec all the way up to Whitehorse, Yukon. Back and forth. I had the chance to see the Alaska Highway, and part of the rockies, which I had never seen before... it was so beautiful, I came back with only one thing in mind. I'm going to be back next year, for a ski trip this time!
I started serious work out little over a month ago, with a lot of balance oriented yuand legs exercises. So far I can only see benefits from the work out and I haven't even started skiing! So I guess it can only be better once I'm on the mountain!
Also, bought some new gear, got a pair of fischer viron boots, and the new I/O + vantage combo from smith. I'm also super stoked about those!
That's it for my rambling this morning, I had some spare time at work.. thought I'd share with you what keeps me motivated these days. I literaly think about ski 24/7 for the past month.
btw, I'm 30 and I live in Quebec City.
