In the summer of 1968 climber and surfer (and Patagonia founder) Yvon Chouinard, climber and skier Doug Tompkins, and champion skier Dick Dorworth – set off from California in a old, van to surf, ski and climb their way down to the southern end of Argentina where they met up with a young British climber, Chris Jones. Their goal was to climb the mountain Cerro Fitz Roy. Filmed and edited by Lito Tejada-Flores, and narrated by Tom Donahue.
Currently up in 6 parts on youtube. Part 2 has them sand skiing dunes and snow skiing on a volcano. The latter parts deal primarily with climbing the mountain. Great road trip; pretty cool time capsule!
