Marker Piston Plate Mounting Options

Mostly out of curiosity, is the reason for the different options for mounting to soften or stiffen the flex?  It looks like the only difference between the options is the screws in the center (not between SL and GS but intra SL or intra GS).  If so, without the center screws would be the softer flex, correct?

Thanks,

Ken

Yes, the different mounting options change the flex. You got it on a used ski so you probably don't have all of the hardware. There are different washers that you put into it to lock it up or make it softer as well.

Thanks.  I had purchased the same set up with a different marker comp binding for a different set of skis so I have all the hardware from that one and the IKEA like instructions.

Ah well all good then, I just went and dug out a set of instructions for you. You won't really be able to change anything without a jig of course (well, I guess you could use the plate itself as a jig).

Ever had one of these be too stiff for the forebody of the ski, so that the tip engages but then the edge skips out when the plate is required to flex?

Can't say I have. I have had a ski get bent right in front of the plate while carving a turn in too soft snow. I think I was lucky to walk away from that.
