Just FYI, leaving the scene of an accident (or giving false information) is a crime in most places.
Unclear. The father said the guy "turned", not "stopped", though their re-enactment video showed the downhill skier suddenly stopping. The collision also apparently occurred on a cat-track, not an open trail as in the video. They settled out of court, so any speculation about fault is really just that.
The guy needed shoulder surgery and months of rehab, so it was a little more than just "running over his skis". I believe they (or their insurance company) were suing for ~$75K in medical bills/expenses and lost wages. (There was some speculation in those other threads about whether he really would have been awarded that much, but they guy DID have real injuries.)
