That goes hand in hand with this thread.

Why did they give that guy information that allowed him to sue them?  Couldn't he have just been like "sorry man" then skiied away?

did the poor "victim" really stop in the middle of the trail ?

He grabbed the kid? Screw a lawsuit, the guy could have been arrested for assault (on a minor no less!) Let the jerk decide between his lawsuit and a criminal charge.

Did the guy actually get hurt?  What were the damages?  All that I heard was that he fell down.  I wonder what the awards were.

I believe that's the same case from the thread that TC linked, which was also written up extensively in a few other threads:

Just FYI, leaving the scene of an accident (or giving false information) is a crime in most places.

Unclear.  The father said the guy "turned", not "stopped", though their re-enactment video showed the downhill skier suddenly stopping.  The collision also apparently occurred on a cat-track, not an open trail as in the video.  They settled out of court, so any speculation about fault is really just that.

The guy needed shoulder surgery and months of rehab, so it was a little more than just "running over his skis".  I believe they (or their insurance company) were suing for ~$75K in medical bills/expenses and lost wages.  (There was some speculation in those other threads about whether he really would have been awarded that much, but they guy DID have real injuries.)

Unbelievable. I stopped in the middle of a trail and almost got hit so i'm gonna sue. Just unbelievable.
