i'm a lifelong skier and have a serious addiction to very technical terrain. I love skiing in tightly wooded areas, chutes, drops, etc. i'm less interested in powder/bowls, unless they're very steep. i skied whistler last winter, which was like a dream come true for me... pretty much endless supply of very technical terrain.
this year my friends want to go to vail or jackson hole. i've heard plenty of great recommendations about very difficult terrain at jackson hole (corbets!!!), but i haven't heard the same about vail, and when i look at the vail trail maps, i see a serious lack of double-black trails or labeled glades. it looks like maybe it's a little more of a family mountain? is it a case of the terrain is there... i just have to find it, or will i run out of really technical stuff to ski there in a week's stay? i haven't been to either.
thanks very much for any input!
