DANGER!!! 2011/2012 MAGIC STOKE ALERT!!! - Page 3

RG, thanks for showing me what I'm missing :-(...even with a less than snow year, lots of fun at Magic!

DoWork - you weren't there that day.  Jeff, Jake, Dave, Greg and Adam took great care of me and Tim kept me hydrated/pain free while waiting for my ride home.  Planning my rehab to include lots of hiking this summer...might as well do it around Londonderry and keep improving our spots.

I was happy to help.  Like I said I was sure it was your knee/ACL.  Bones will heal quicker than ligaments.  So IMO it sucks but is better than I thought.

Heal up, best of luck.

Sunshine Corner a.k.a. "The Londonderry Riviera".

C'mon winter GODDAMN you...quit sucking!!!!

Do Work,

If it can just get a few degrees colder and snow...thinking of coming up this weekend.

Ah, figures.  Sucks to hear but at least you're on the road to recover and it's not ligament/tendon/meniscus related, sometimes that stuff never heals 100%.  Bones are much better.  You know I'll be around to help with that PT hiking initiative!

Aw man, that would be great!  The west side is skiing awesome right now if it's any consolation.  I can't wait to rip Wizard top to bottom this weekend.  Magic has a new groomer operator and the guy is an ace, I can't believe how awesome Tali was last weekend and can't wait to see what he does with the Wiz.

Let me know if you plan on coming up, it would be great to ride with you again!

Also Rusty/OG...  Can we get a smattering of some stoke pics and video?  Would like to keep this thread near the top to remind people looking for uncrowded options during the holiday week about Magic.

I'll I have is the vid in the last post of the previous page.  I think Ian must have gotten some good stills.  I'll see what I can do.

Damn I miss spending my weekends at Magic...would it be lame to show up on crutches and hope for pity beers/shotskis?

Heck no.  The food and partying has been almost as much fun as the fun but limited skiing lately.

[/quote] Dang it, I wish I saw this earlier; just bought online. If the offers open ended though, I could see myself visiting Magic on a future weekend;) -Smarty

Offer opened til I run out.   Not free, I just bought a bunch of 3 packs.  I've done it in the past couple of years trying to help.  Smarty come say hello, upstairs by the bar.  Seems silly but look for DPS's on the hill.  Think bright colors for our crew.

Fractured my tibia plateau in a twisting fall after my dynafit pre-released on hard snow in Japan.  Ice in the sockets was the likely cause of the pre-release.  I did not need any fancy deck screws like Brian, but I can't put any weight on my leg for 8 weeks.  Can't drive as it is my right leg.

Aw man, so sorry to hear this.  Heal well and get after it next year.

Dude, that is terrible.  Ugh, two men down...  Not cool.

Well in brighter news, the Black Chair ran all weekend alongside Big Red so despite the large number of skiers, nobody waited longer than about 30 seconds to get on the lift.  Also, Wizard skied awesome as did Talisman.  It's funny how much grooming changes that trail, usually Tali takes a while and you have to pick your way down whereas now you can ski it at like 50+ and not even really feel like you're pushing it that hard.  Wiz though has so much fun flow to it, got a few newbies out there for the first time this weekend and they loved it!  My brain hurts when I think about how great it would be with some fresh on top of all this base.

Heard Stratton and Okemo were gridlock w/ 8k+ skiers each both days.  Man, I am so glad I stayed close to home!

Do Work is not kidding.  Laps were done on Talisman at Mach Schnell; I frightened myself a few times!

Although he is completely exaggerating the effect of the black chair's operation...I waited at least 42 seconds one time. biggrin.gif

And for all you families out there: my son (6y/o) spent two days in lessons; each day there was one other child in the morning and none in the afternoon...essentially all day private lessons for around $100...bet you can't say that about ANY other mtn within 200miles!

Went to K-Mart on Sunday; conditions were great, but it was like skiing the NJ Turnpike...the volume of people (and people skiing where they had no business being) was scary!

Looks like 8-10" this week as of now, anybody coming up?

Also it appears the STEFT comp line was moved to goniff's glade, which is pretty cool because sunshine corner is a great spot to see the whole run.  Stoked it didn't have to be cancelled!

When is the competition?

I might try for Friday.

Comp is Saturday.

Friday looks to be a great skiing day though!  I think I'm coming down with some anal glaucoma because I seriously don't see my ass showing up for work if it dumps 8-10.

Just catching you up.  Been a bunch of updates at http://www.savemagicvermont.com/

OK...we're past June 30.  Time for the 12/13 Magic Stoke thread to start.  I don't have the creds to do it.  Calling DoWork....

I'll post this here for now.  DoWork, its time for a new thread!

A little intro to Magic's glade you never skied last season

OG, you are SO right- I almost did it the other day but didn't have the time to dedicate to finding pertinent links and such.  Wouldn't want to half-ass a thread that will be so incredibly badass, y'know?

So yeah peeps- start getting your Magic stoke pics because this year's thread is going to be a doozie.  Big- no, wait- HUGE things happening this year!  Magic is going to be the best it has ever been this season without a doubt!!!

Volunteer Day #1 was a ripping success.  Despite not many folks committing to coming beforehand, we had a couple dozen show up, including a lot of first-timers.  Lots of deadfall moved, a crew did extensive brushcutting on Goniff's, and some new lines were opened up on a secret West Side glade as well as extensive work on "The Wardrobe". Another crew worked on some more stashes on the East side. The Magicment put on a great spread afterwards and the weather was perfect...can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday.  As Mr. Do Work said, this is going to be Magic's best year ever.

We found this beauty in the woods under several inches of dirt.  Old Fisher with Spademan binding.  Can't even begin to guess how & how long it's been there.

The crew getting ready.  East side very noticeable glade will be amazing.
