I make zip lock snack bags full of 3 or 4 kinds of mixed nuts (heavy on the walnuts) and throw in some dried fruits - raisins, cranberries, cherries, etc. The cold keeps it from getting sticky. If the food lines are long in the lodge, I have lunch on the lifts and keep going all day. I also bring watered down power aid and the reliable PBJ (preferably on raisin bread).

Water to drink. Got an MSR dromedary bag for this season to replace the plastic bottles I'd been using. Snacks are usually chewy granola bars (hold together pretty well if you fall) or packs of crackers.

Clif Bars.  But my buddy and I noticed something.......interesting.......after eating these prolifically.  Anybody get serious gas from Clif Bars?

Spam Musubi!  It's good cold, it's filling, easy to eat on the lift, it's protein and carbs (and grease), and it's already pre-squashed.  What more can you ask?

 

Downside is that it does take a bit of effort and planning to make beforehand.

I'm a long time nuts and dried fruit in a ziplock guy.  I went through a dried squid phase, but right now I'm in a charcuterie phase.  Locally made fresh jerkies are killin' it for me at the moment.  I'm very likely to have a variety of salamies in my pants at any given time.  Some dry cured olives are a nice addition but I may have to add a crusty baguette and some Humboldt Fog to the mix.

I can't believe that no one has mentioned brownies.

 

I'm usually good with an oatmeal breakfast then 2 slices of lodge pizza before the lunch rush. Other than that I don't eat until I get home.

Yes Brownies are good. I like them when they're cold and a bit gooey.

Chocolate, nuts, beef jerkey, salmon jerkey - any jerkey really.

Has anyone figured out how to do raclette on a gondola? Now that would be interesting. (i mean we've got Spam susi rolls for god's sake...)

I won't post the photo here for protection from further scorn of the non smokers. In one of the past threads the three of them were on a chair and there was smoke.

Now maybe those "randy" sticks were the cause, but it could've been something else. ore it's nothing altogether

 

Would you eat a cold hamburger on the lift? Like saved from lunch/dinner.

geez, now i'm starving...

biggrin.gif  But: different day, different mountain, different company.

 

Although Bumpfreaq and I did have our own little chairlift adventure, too (power outtage on ski hill). Would have actually been a great time to smoke on the chairlift.

A thermos of grzaniec(polish mulled wine) is a delicious way to warm up, or even some normal red wine and a kabanos(small smoked sausage).  Power bars, granola bars, peanuts round out the usual choices.  Brownies do sound good though, or some PBJ.

First time I met bumpfreaq was during his dried squid phase. Found this supremely impressive and knew that I HAD to spend more time with the guy. I'm usually much more conventional, regularly  opting for breakfast banana stashed in my pant cuff, granola bar in my jacket, and often have a supply of Skittles on hand. (Much prefer the tropical fruit variety, but have not been able to find them in the mountains. Have had to settle for the crazy colors variety, or, in a pinch, the originals.)
