ADVICE wanted: Nordica Nitrous compared to Voikl Mantra

Hi,  Im a level 8 East Coast skiier who loves his visits to the West.  5'10", 180, 65 yrs young, skiing since 1992.  I want to expand my quiver with a pair of Mantra's.   I ski Nordica Nitrous 170's and Nordica SpeedMachines Mach 3 170's and for too many years had straight 190 Dynastars.  Once I got some shaped skiis I really started to ski. Funny how that worked.   I think I want a pair of wider ski's for the new snow in the east and any time I go west  and I think I want some Mantras because of all  I have read about them.  But I am not experienced enough to know what to expect when I get them.  Yes I know I can demo them if I wait until the season is going but I want some new skis NOW.  Instant gratification is one of my issues and at this stage of my life I want to work on other issues, such as skiing!!

Would someon care to  compare the mantras to the nitrous so I'll have an idea what  to expect.  Thanks

Comparing the two is like comparing a pickup to a sedan.....both generally have four wheels.

Depending upon which version of the Nitrous you have, it is between 78-84mm wide and is a fine, general purpose ski on the narrow end of the mid fat category.

The Mantra is 98mm wide and is the stiffest ski in the very competitive 94-98mm group. The Mantra performs well for heavy aggressive skiers although among it's peers in it's width category, it is the worst at deep snow and bumps. I have owned two Mantras but given it's competition, there are better skis for soft conditions.

Such as...........

Nordica Enforcer

Dynastar Legend 94

Salomon Sentinel

Blizz Bonafide

Line Prophet 98

Rossi Experience 98

Hi SJ, Thanks.   I can relate to pickups and sedans,  I have both.   I was hoping you would see this thread and give me your two cents. I started skiing at Alpine Meadows and need to get back there!  And I'm working on my weight so I should be skiing at 175 .  So I think I'll look for some Nordica Enforcers, since I like my other Nordica's so much..  My Nitrous are 78's.

Thanks again

The Enforcer is an absolutely fine choice.
