I see that has been edited now - thanks.

Single chair at 9am on 3/15 sounds good to me.

I'll volunteer the bf for Sugarbush.

I'll be nice enough to ask him first, but he skis everything

and knows Castlerock and the trees better than anyone.

I'll be there, but baby, I don't ski where he does. lol.

FWIW, all should check out the Hostel Tevere. Sarah and Giles are awesome and the place

is right at the end of the access road, and the Mad River shuttle has easy and free service.

and it's like, $35 a night.

Cheers,

I'm a beginner/intermediate skier - would I be out of place if I come to the meeting? Would really like to join you guys, but don't want to be a "party pooper"...

You can come.  Mad River has Bird Land and it is one of the best beginner or Novice areas anywhere.  Stowe too

I would be glad to make some laps with you around MRG in terrain and pace that works for you.

Come on out, I will be glad to take a couple of runs with you. Best way to get better is to ski, ski and ski some more. The easier runs at MRG are terriffic, very enjoyable.

Anyone going to the Eastern Gathering should sign into the Eastern Gathering Group and post in the Roll Call thread

Any idea on how much this would cost for Thur-Sun?

If you go to all the areas as scheduled lift tickets will be $296.00 MRG $45, Stowe 2@ $88, Jay $75, I would estimate $50/day for food/drink and that is probably scrimping a bit so that's another $200, I'll guess lodging at $120/night for 4 nights but there must be cheaper accommodations available, so $480 for lodging. I see a total not including fuel of about $976.00. There is a discount at Jay if you have a 2011-2012 season pass at any area in North America the ticket is $55. All lift ticket prices are the areas website info. One place I have stayed at before is the Northern Lights motel on the Stowe access rd, pretty far up the road and has an indoor pool and decent size bar. Stowe area could be a good place to base out of for the central location to all the ski areas. Hope this can help.

I think your food cost is high especially if you pack a lunch.

If your PSIA or NSP member rember to bring letters.

True if one will pack lunches but I'm also thinking of beverages and those are not cheap especially apres ski, then with dinner etc. for some. Most places won't honor a PSIA letter on the weekend but definitely bring one for Thurs and Friday.

Looks like I have finagled a business trip to Burlington for that week (which i will extend through the weekend).  Only problem, it will be kinda hard to slip my skis past my boss and client (boots i can handle).  Any suggestions on where to demo skis around Stowe?

BTW- this will be my first Epic Gathering... looking forward to it!

Whiteroom (a member here on Epic) works at (owns?) SkierShop which is right on Mountain Road (closer to the village).

I've demoed skis from Pinnacle Ski and Sports (also on Mountain Road, about halfway between the village and the mountain).

Stowe has their Stowe Toys demo center right at the base of the quad as well.

There's certainly no shortage of options...

Just got my vacation confirmed, so I'm in for Thur through Sun. Anyone else is coming from NYC area?

KevinF- thanks for the info

I'm coming up from Southwest CT but I have to cut it a bit short and drive home after skiing on the 17th.

Sorry all... I just got word from my boss that they are going to be sending me to Aspen for 4 days for a conference from march 14-18th... I'm out for guiding at Jay... Sorry but it's Aspen!

To my fellow eastern bears.

Outdoor Gear Exchange offers discount lift tickets to Jay while they have them. They sell them for 49 which is a pretty rad price. Here is their website

http://gearx.com/

I'd recommend calling them first to make sure they haven't sold out before you head there to pick them up. They are located right in burlington.

Cheers,

Bax

Well sorry to say, but it looks like I'm going to have to withdraw plans to be there. I'm planning a trip to England in June and just can't seem to find the funds to do both the ski trip and that. Maybe next year.

London this year? Gonna be crowded.... I am sure you would rather be on the slopes with us, right?  smile.gif

Going before the Olympic crowd hits (I hope). Maybe if it was a good snow year, I'd rather be on the slopes. But even then 11 days in England/Scotland vs. 4 days of skiing in Vermont leans heavily toward option one in a good snow year.

Just have him call first to make sure they have some. They sell out, but then get more.

Bump!  This gathering is coming right up.  I hope you get the same great snow we enjoyed in Tahoe.  Who's going?

I think I'm in, for at least Saturday and Sunday, although probably none of you guys know me -- haven't posted here much.

By the way, Slide Brook Lodge at Sugarbush is a fantastic option as well, it's $40/night and in a great location off the access road, with a bar located right below your room.
