Anyone Else having Issues with iPad's?

Thread Starter

I can no longer view Epic forums with my iPad.  If the page loads fully, it causes Safari to crash.  Anyone else having this issue?  My iPad is up to date on firmware and I've rebooted it, as well as killed all other threads other than Safari.

Mike I'll pass it along.  This is the first complaint.  If anyone is able or unable to use Epicski with an iPad, please post here.  Unfortunately, I can't test this.

Mike,

I have had the same problem.  It is related to safari.  Everything worked fine with the other browsers I have installed on my iPad.  I found Safari worked better after I manually shut down the app, then rebooted.  Just like a regular windows pc.  So much for Apple being better.

The IPads are all in mourning.

I am using an iPad right now -- no problem!

Epic crashes constantly on my iPad. I think it crashed in both Safari and Skyfire, but I'll have to check when I'm home.

Checked last night, it's fine with Skyfire.

I actually mentioned this in another thread somewhere Cirque, but it was mostly in passing. I've had issues with it since I got my iPad 2 back in July. Epic almost always works fine on 3G but anytime I try to load it on Edge it crashes Safari. Granted I say usually 3G and until today I have had no issues with it, but it crashed Safari trying to pull it up on 3G today too. It starts to load and about half way through Safari just crashes. I think it may be related to the amount of data trying to be transferred upon load possibly. I had a non-smart phone with a simple web browser I used to try to load Epic on over Verizon's last gen network and it would crash the web browser (and my phone) when I tried to load it. I think maybe taking a look at the amount of data being sent/received upon visit to the site may address the complaints of slowness and this issue.

I have the same problem.

My solution is - throw the rotten apple away and revert to notebook and paperback.

Now I'm able to view it on my iPad.

Updating here, I had problems with both Safari and Skyfire this weekend...

I pulled up Epicski on a new iPhone 4s and was able to dictate a reply into a thread.  Hi. The new voice recognition stuff is pretty nice compared to virtual typing.  On the new iPhone, the reply keyboard now includes a microphone next to the space bar.  If you touch that, you can dictate replies to forums and messages.

I haven't got to try it on Edge with iOS 5 yet. One glitch I have noticed so far is that if you select open in new tab for a thread (ie if you have new responses in two threads and want to open them both) it doesn't go to your last read post, but instead to the beginning of the thread. It only happens when you select to open in new tab, not for just open.

My iPad has started giving an error that the rich text editor is not compatible with my browser, which means HTML source code is displayed in replys. Anybody else?

IMHO, the site never work well on iOS devices. For one thing, you need two touches to open almost any topics. The pages seem to always try to reposition to the top before it finish loading. I think you should force the developers to use iOS device exclusively so he can suffer with us.

A more iOS friendly site is in the works. I use iOS to check the site almost every morning so I feel your pain.

Thank you and looking forward to the improved version.

i too was having problems viewing in safari.  Downlaoding and using the Puffin browser to view Epicski has remedied the problem.

Has anyone noticed that the Reputation function for posts (the thumbs up icon) doesn't work on their iPad? I'm using an iPad 2.

Yes and it is annoying.  I'm using the iPad2 also.

Pretty soon we'll have a mobile platform for your iPads and smart phones that will work better on these devices. I am glad to know you're missing the thumbs up, as I assume that means you find it useful.
