Bonafides or LP 98 vs Watea and Mantra

My first post here after lurking for years. Bit of a dilemma over my next ski purchase so thought I'd seek input. I'm 5'10 175 lbs, level 8 skier, ski mostly in the Cascades - Meadows and Bachelor -- with trips to Tahoe, Whistler, Red and Utah. I'm currently skiing a Fischer Watea 84, which I bought site unseen after reading reviews here several years ago. I have really loved that ski, but they're getting a bit beat up and I'm looking for something I can replace them with and use as my main ski. Looking to go a bit wider, in the 90 to 100 mm waist range. I skied some mantras last year in Whistler in about boot to shin deep. Not for me at all. Felt like a big stiff planks with less float than my Watea 84 and no bounce. YMMV but I didn't like them. Anyway, I've been considering the LP 98, but have also seen some great reveiws on Blizzard Bonafides. Wondering if anyone can offer comparison with how those are likely to feel versus the Wateas and Mantras . I like to ski trees whenever possible, so a quick turning ski is nice. Won't be hucking any cliffs, but I ski fairly aggressively.

Welcome to EpicSki!

All the skis you mention have similar dimensions but all have different flex and feel.

As you said, the Mantra is more than a little bit stiffer than most of the skis in its class and may not be ideal for a skier who likes something a little less ........ummmmmm.........planky.

The Line Prophet 98 is a really nice ski with a nice flex, and(as you've read) the Blizzard bonafides are the leader in their class.  I'd be hard pressed to find someone who didn't really like the Bones.

The Fischer Watea 94 (size up from your 84's) is a highly popular ski that is easy to ski but doesn't hold back when you need to open it up.

Maybe someone else with some experience on these skis will chime in.

How do you think the Bonafides or the LP 98s would feel versus the watea. Obviously I have a pretty good sense of that ski.. thnks

The LP is going to most like your W84..but bigger and more versatile and a similar turn shape. The early rise will be a nice addition when you get into the trees. The Bone is going top have a bit of a longer turn built in. The LP will be a tad better on firm snow with the bOne slightly better off piste. Honestly these are two of the better skis in this category, you could toss a coin and not make a bad choice.
