Was it a decent deal or did I make a mistake?

Hello all,

I am looking for some feedback on a sudden purchase I made this morning.  Not sure if it was a good deal or not...  I bought used Salomon Pocket Rocket skis (can read SC 122 90 115 A1L on the side), 160cm, with Salomon S711 bindings.  They are in a fair state, need rewaxing and edge still good.  I paid 175$.

I re-started skiing last year and had bought used rental for 15$.  They did the job when skiing on greens and blue with the wife and kids, but I struggled pretty bad following the boyz in the powder - it didn't work at all!  So I was looking for better skis to be able to do some powder but would also be fine when skiing with the family, when I came up with this sell this morning.  I tried to look on the web how much these skis/bindings cost when new but wasn't able to find anything.

For the record, I ski about 8-12 days a year.  Intermediate caliber, doing many other sports, but poor knowledge on equipment.  5'10", 160 lbs.

Thanks for your feedback!

Why do you want to know?

A quick google search shows decent powder reviews. The skis you bought are in good shape. You can't really expect to get anything worth skiing for less than $175, so it seems like you got a decent ski at a decent price.

If finding out you could have gotten then for $20 less will make you unhappy, there's just no upside to asking the question.

The good news is, you'll be able to try them out in short order. Very short order, depending on where you live.

there are new, wider, stiffer, shinier options out there now, but a lot of people have had a lot of fun on that ski...enjoy your upgrade!

They should work well for what you want.  They're not so great in hard conditions and they loose stability at high speed, but for powder and groomers at regular speeds they'll do fine.  Did you pay too much?  Only if you don't like them.

ya its a decent deal. like another poster stated, you may have gotten away with 25-50$ less, but does it really matter? that amount of money is insignificant if you have fun on them.
