I just picked up a pair of the Carbon 14S. I had been holding out for the Peak vario, but these came up for very cheap (slightly less than promotive incl. shipping). Still more than I wanted to spend, but whatever - the release mechanism on my old triggger 1 poles is getting a little harder to deal with. And the resale on Leki poles in the right season is pretty amazing if I don't like em.
One thing I noticed is that the warranty on their carbon poles is one year as opposed to 2 for the aluminum. That's not too comforting. I also assume that they have made some improvements to the Trigger S as some people who switched to it from trigger 1 a few years ago complained about it.
Anyway I'm looking forward to using them.
Two last dumb questions: the specs say carbide flex tip (flexes 30 degrees): does this make it hard to use the pole to click out of your binding? And what is the cobra basket? Not performance not race and not snowflake?
Finn: They do still make the Carbon 11S. The Leki.com website just doesn't have it. You can download Leki's full '11-'12 catalogs here.
There are a number of models that don't seem to be distributed in the US.
(Phil: even though I'm no longer on the ins with promotive I'll write a review )
