Ok... Double entendre post. For those inclined, check out what ESPN.com is running. I realize that I am doing exactly what they want by calling it to everyone's attention, but something is seriously wrong with our media. I try to be permissive but careful about what my kids do and don't do on the internet, but what chance do I have as a parent when when an outlet like ESPN puts out stuff like this for all to see without any restriction. I mean, who would ever block ESPN.com? Even if I had an interest in looking at what they are showing, I sure as hell don't want it shoved in my face when I am trying to catch up on Tuesday Morning Quarterback.
For the record, I'm no moral conservative. I'm as much in favor of naked folks as the next red-blooded American male, but even I have to draw the line on this one. It's ESPN for porn's- I mean corn's- sake! This isn't February after the Super Bowl when there is nothing else going on. Football season is in full swing, the MLB playoffs are primo entertainment, and hockey is launching.
What are they thinking and why do people who cover athletes on a regular basis persist in objectifying them, male or female, instead of just marveling at their remarkable skills and abilities?
