Ok... Double entendre post. For those inclined, check out what is running. I realize that I am doing exactly what they want by calling it to everyone's attention, but something is seriously wrong with our media.  I try to be permissive but careful about what my kids do and don't do on the internet, but what chance do I have as a parent when when an outlet like ESPN puts out stuff like this for all to see without any restriction. I mean, who would ever block Even if I had an interest in looking at what they are showing, I sure as hell don't want it shoved in my face when I am trying to catch up on Tuesday Morning Quarterback.

For the record, I'm no moral conservative. I'm as much in favor of naked folks as the next red-blooded American male, but even I have to draw the line on this one. It's ESPN for porn's- I mean corn's- sake! This isn't February after the Super Bowl when there is nothing else going on. Football season is in full swing, the MLB playoffs are primo entertainment, and hockey is launching.

What are they thinking and why do people who cover athletes on a regular basis persist in objectifying them, male or female, instead of just marveling at their remarkable skills and abilities?

Are you talking about their athlete announcement for this season's ESPN the Magazine "body" issue?

I don't think it's that big of a deal.

Its the lead photo on the main website. I dunno. Maybe I'm just getting old.

It was on ABC Good Morning America while the kids (age 7 and 9) were getting ready for the bus.  Dan Abrahms (the legal guy) says.. "can we actually show this stuff???"th_dunno-1[1].gif

Really dude? You've got an issue with this? I've got a 13 year-old daughter and a 16 year-old son. I can't see any problem with either seeing these. Nor younger kids. Look at the bodies on these athletes. Awesome!

I think it's awesome -- and I'm someone who has never been entirely comfortable with female athletes posing for swimsuit photos. This is different. It's like ancient Greek sculpture.

Geez. I guess I'm wrong! Never mind....

And for the record, everyone's welcome on my lawn. Something about this just pissed me off. Maybe it was just the timing. I don't go wacky over the SI Swimsuit issue, although I have to admit I really don't browse it anymore.
