I need some advice in deciding which pair of skis to get for this season, and hopefully they will last for several seasons. First, I should let you know I'm a 6' 4" 200lb advanced skier who spends the vast majority of my time in trees, bowls, chutes, and steeps, with a little bit of time in moguls and the occasional lap through the terrain park, but very little time on groomers. My current set of skis are the 2009 Head Supermojo 105's, but I want something that will float better in powder, provide more versatility, and be easier to make quick turns on in the trees. I really want something with rocker or early rise also, and a 110mm waist and 185cm length is the size range I'm aiming for.
With all of that considered, I have narrowed it down to three choices: 2012 Line Sir Francis Bacon, 2012 Atomic Blog, or 2011 Rossignol S6 Jib (because I found a great price on them somewhere). I have a few questions:
1. I want to have a traditional mount to maximize float in powder, but these skis have a pretty symmetrical sidecut. Will they perform well with a traditional mount even though they seem to be designed more for a center mount?
2. Are there any differences between the 2012 Sickle and the 2011 S6 Jib?
3. I initially wasn't considering the S6 because I like the benefits I've read about rocker/camber/rocker better than full rocker. Also, it seems less stiff which worries me on the steeps. However, the price I found (about $150-200 less than the other 2) is making me reconsider. Will the full rocker and more flexible ski hold up in the steeps and in hairy conditions, and will it provide decent edge grip in general?
4. Finally, what is your recommendation on which of these skis might be right for me?
