Smuggs n Stowe

Looks like we are headed back to Smugglers Notch again this year, Mid March.  I expect to get 4 days of skiing in.

The package includes lifts as part of the package.

It seams pretty silly to this very long journey (From NYC) and not spend at least 1 day at Stowe.  We will have to make the 45 minute drive & have to pay extra to ski there. I've been to Smuggs before and really like the mountain.

Opinions anyone?

If you are up for an adventure you can hike across from Smugg's to Spruce peak in 10 minutes, ski all day and then hike back in the afternoon. Saves driving but requires the ability to follow a well-worn path.

Stowe has better lifts, better grooming and better snow making.

yeah the quickest way to stowe from smuggs is from the top of sterling. Its literally takes 15 minutes and youll have your ski gear already.  I will never drive to smuggs as long I have a stowe lift pass its just easier to ski.

Yes but don't you have to buy a ticket once you get over to the Stowe side?

And, how easy would it be to get lost?

Will the Smuggs lifties let you ride once for free in the morning to get on top of Sterling to make the short hike to go over and buy a Stowe ticket??

yes, if you think its easy to get lost its easy to get lost

Basically you just follow 2 well worn paths.

It also sounds like he already has a package of smuggs tickets.

BTW (smuggs does not check lift tickets like ever....just sayin)

I've skied the trees between the two mountains.... fantastic in its own right.

So if I just keep following the ridge you can get to Stowe trails?  You can get back also?  Not too much uphill?

Bush was correct, we will have passes for Smuggs all week.
