I whent to the shop today and this is what I found out. The sales man said he had tried to drill holes in the D2 deck only to find out that the area is very small where you can drill holes. So he did not reccomend it. Also, I did some measurements and found out that the D2 ski is much thicker arround the midmark than the flat deck SL ski. On the other hand, the D2 deck is much thinner than the plates on the flat deck SL ski. In all the D2 ski and deck is about 3-4mm lower than the flat deck SL. Kind of strange.... the D2 ski has a stiffening deck but its still much thicker. Which means also much stiffer. Thats.... stiff + stiff = very stiff. Can anybody explain why? And why the lower stand height? I put 3mm raicer plate under my current flat deck ski x-bindings to be closer to what Im used to.
