Ski share in Alma, CO instead of Summit county?

Finding it impossible to find a place in Summit county that accepts dogs. Found a ton of them in Alma, however, for a fraction of the price. Obviously it's a fraction of the price for a reason. I know it's further from all the resorts but the place is only 20 min from Breck. I have the epic local pass so I figured I'd just ski Breck most weekends then on the day I'm headed back ski A-basin. Keystone is meh IMHO so I don't feel like I'm missing out on too much and I only have 10 days at  Vail/BC so the hour drive 10 times isn't that big of a deal and I have a few friends there so I might even be able to crash there for a night. It's right off 285 which is a good back-door to avoid i70 as well. Am I crazy for doing this? Sharing a place w/ 3 other people instead of 9 and having a place for my dogs sounds like a good deal....

That works until you really really want to hit that big dump -- and Hoosier Pass is closed.

How often do they close Hoosier? It was still open last year when 70 was closed and we had 2'.

I don't think it's closed that often ... the only issue is that there is so much two-lane road, if there is an accident or something. But I don't really know ... I drive it occasionally but not very often. Never had a big problem.

I think it's definitely worth a shot, staying in Alma. It's just one season, if you don't like it. And I imagine that traffic going north out of Breck would make a commute longer than going south, even if it's farther going south.

It's hard to imagine you could get from Alma to Vail in a hour at ski times.

Never tried though.
