New Exercise for Upcoming Season

Thread Starter

Has anyone ever tried this? If not, I just invented a new ski exercise!

I have been doing some exercises to get the old bod in shape for the next ski season. One of my favorites is the "Wall Sit" where you mimic a seated position with your back against a wall and hold it until you feel the burn. Just for variety, I thought I would try it one-legged. To do the exercise, I cross my ankle over the opposite knee, just as if I were sitting in a chair, and then hold in the seated position. The difference between this and the standard two-legged "Wall Sit" is that the burn comes on way faster, it requires balance, and it feels more in keeping with the way the legs work independently during skiing. The "One-Legged Wall Sit" - new for 2011-2012 Ski Season!

Big deal. Do it without the wall and I'll be really impressed. smile.gif

Want the  "6 minute workout" version ???

Skip steps 1 through 4 and go directly to DRINKING BEER beercheer.gif

Quickest way to Abs of Steel ! (Beer kegs are made of steel !)

6-Pack Abs are for wusses - Take it  up a notch to pony keg abs!

The wall-less version suggested in post two is actually easy, and it is one of the exercises featured in SKI magazine a couple years ago in the fitness section.

Here's one (and like many fun exercises, this is born from a drinking game). Get yourself a paper shopping bag and a pair of scissors. Bend down on one leg and pick up the bag with your teeth. Then do it on the other leg. Then cut a half inch or so off the bag. Repeat. Cut again, repeat. And repeat. Until what's left of the bag is only an inch or so high. You'll feel that in your quads, and it'll help build balance. Drinks are optional.
