Junk in the Text

Thread Starter

I'm on Safari 5.0.6 running Mac OSX 10.5.8.  Some of the posts on some of the threads are coming out with extra stuff added.  An example is a post I put out today in the "Places We'll Go" thread.  It now looks like this to me:

<p> &nbsp;</p> <p> ODE TO EPISKIS</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Oh, the places we’ll go!</p> <p> The things we’ll see!</p> <p> (As long as I stay healthy</p> <p> And don’t blow out my knee.)</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> We’ll start at my home hills,</p> <p> Stevens Pass and Mount Baker</p> <p> Where I’ll show them to all</p> <p> And talk up their maker.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Won’t they look grand</p> <p> Stuck out in the snow?</p> <p> Everyone will stare,</p> <p> When I have them in tow.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Then I’ll go on a trip</p> <p> Where I’ll rip</p> <p> And then sip</p> <p> As I pass on a tip:</p> <p> These skis are no blip.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> They’re the “cat’s meow,”</p> <p> Good on groomers and pow</p> <p> Wailing down bumps</p> <p> And ready for dumps!</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> At Whistler they’ll thrill</p> <p> To the site of me (Phil)</p> <p> As these incredible EpicSkis</p> <p> Bend to my Will.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> First I’ll turn left,</p> <p> Then I’ll turn right,</p> <p> The powder will fly,</p> <p> Oh, what a sight!</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> A cry will erupt</p> <p> From the chairlift up high,</p> <p> “There go those skis</p> <p> I’ve gotta buy!”</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> Revelstoke, Silver Star,</p> <p> Big White, Sun Peaks</p> <p> If I can swing it,</p> <p> I’ll ski there for weeks.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> This contest is great,</p> <p> I’m so glad to compete</p> <p> To be the lucky one</p> <p> With EpicSkis on my feet.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> The skis should be mine!</p> <p> They’ll be precious to me.</p> <p> I’ll treat them like gold,</p> <p> Even though they’ll be free.</p>
Other posts in the same thread look fine.  This is not isolated to my posts, there are those from others that look weird too.  The above one looked fine a while ago, but now it's not.
Help!
P.S.  With this post I'm getting these little blue lines when I double space.  Never seen that before either.

I edited the post I used as an example and now it displays normally.

Something weird is going on.  I'm using Firefox 6.0.2 on a Mac and having the same issue.

Not to me it doesn't....  I just told Jay he was the only one.  Now there's two of you "posting gibberish".  wink.gif

Some new fix went in...Earlier today it was NOT asking me if I was sure I wanted to mark things as read.  Now it's asking me if I'm sure.

A single line post was fine.

But how about when I skip a few lines?

Like this?  I bet it inserts HTML.

Well, it fixed me good.  I just found that the post that I thought I fixed went back to HTML again.  I deleted the entire post and copied it back from the Word document that I had composed it on and it now displays normally.  We'll see how long that lasts.

EDIT

Weird! I just quoted sib, but I only picked the second quote and put my text underneath it, now the quote shows underneath my text and added a quote from another sib post is above.  I did not pick that one.  Epic is possessed!

I'm seeing quite a few posts around the forums with HTML showing up as though it's encapsulated in a way that prevents proper rendering. It's showing up in posts made by a variety of users.

The wayward HTML shows up to me in This post as well as others.

Here's another post with unrendered HTML

XP / SR3, FF 3.5.13 - I'm using the BB Editor myself and my own posts read back OK to me.

I don't know which editor I'm using (NOT Full page Editor).  But mine look fine to me.  FF 6.0.2 (which, by the way, seems WAY SLOWER than the 4 series....)  Win 7 64-bit.

I opened that post you linked in the edit mode, and when I hit submit, the post appeared correct.  I will report the bug, but we are expecting an upgrade push today, and this might have something to do with it.

It's all better now.

I had an issue where just for a split second my posts would flicker back and forth between source code (HTML) and normal, but always snapped back to normal.  Might be that yours is sticking in source for some reason??

I saw that too for a while.  But I guess the issue has resolved itself?  Just one of those things?

EDIT: Ah... "submitting content" now comes up instead.  So something was definitely changed.

There's definitely something strange going on. It has been reported and is being worked on as we speak.

It seems to have been fixed with the "submitting content" bit that now comes up when submitting a post.
