Easiest way for you to die skiing? Knocking over my kid on a groomer. You do that, I will kill you.

I was driving on the highway the other day in fairly heavy but moving traffic, all of a sudden a kid comes screaming up the right hand lane (of 3 ) weaving in an out at a very high speed, he made it through but left a wake of other drivers having to readust speed, distances from other drivers and overall slowed down and interupted the flow of traffic........  Interesting since we were all on the same highway trying to drive safely and within control it was just the one driver who interupted everyone else....

Let's tone down the whole Epic vs. TGR talk - it's about as dumb as skiers vs. snowboarders.  Considering I can specifically point out at least a dozen or more people on this forum who also participate over there (myself included).

In context of the OP's point, this conversation about inconsiderate and unsafe skiing takes place only when talking about groomers. It's the nature of the slope, and some of the people hanging out there=unskilled but don't know it, big false ego and can't control it.

The patrol hang out on our mountain run to control traffic. One day I'm following my 5 year old down mountain run, staying to one side, skiing small linked turns in a line, and a young woman on a board somehow gets by me and smashes hard into my son. The patrol is right there, and when I start to go toward the girl (to do or say what I have no idea) , she had fallen, the patrol was coming over to us, knowing how parents feel when they see a teeny tiny kid mowed over by a large  person. (Isn't it amazing how quickly a ski pole starts to feel like something else entirely???)

It isn't really about crowded conditions being the only time a collision with a kid happens. If you think that, you are deluding yourself.

going fast on groomers that have lots of skiers on them is indefensible behavior. give it up and desist from skiing that way.

Even given your goal to be respected as a skier, that is the quickest way to defeat yourself. (made a pun, heh heh)

I find that to be true in regards to bump skiing as well.  I race in an adult program but I am a free skier at heart.  I love to ski bumps after my races and am always looking for someone to rip them up with.  The usual repsonses I get from most of the racers are:

"I don't do bumps anymore because of my knees."  I tihnk, well you use your knees to race don't you?  Racing puts as much stress if not more on your knees than bumps due to the exreme lean angles.

"I can't ski bumps today because my back is killing me!"  Yeah so does mine.  Take some ibuprofen and stop your bitching.

"I would, but I only have my race skis with me."  Well so do I!  I don't care if I have my slalom race skis or my GS race skis, if the bumps look good, I will do a few runs in them.

"I would but the bumps are quite hard today."  So what will you do if you take a wrong turn and end up on a frozen bump field?  Take your skis off and slide down on your bum?  Sking a frozen bump field when you want to rather than have to will better prepare you for anything.

I really just assume that none of those bums could ever ski bumps.

My sig line says it all!

You imbeciles can still run into and kill people in the woods, or in bowls, or any other "off-piste" location that tickles your fancy.

To davluri, if a slope is empty, it is empty.  Doesn't matter if it is groomed, gladed, or anything else.

This point is thin... don't compare skiing groomers to driving on a road.  The epicski community criticized a poster who advocated traffic lights and safety signs on the slopes... wow!  You said the slopes are a place to be free and ski to your own ability level, not be held back by regulations.  If roads are crowded, you have to be respectful... however if they are empty, you can drive quickly.

Don't make jokes about me "getting dead."  I would remind you that at different points in history, retards like yourself who couldn't finish at a public university were gassed dead.

Tone it down?  Why?  The TGR community frequently makes fun of epicski, even people who shamelessly have accounts both places (like karpiel).

I purchase all of their movies and love them, however I detest their community.  It is a sick, sick place, in the worst ways.

there is a direct correlation between the two.

I would never asert that you can ski at your own ability regardless of the conditions (crowds, ability and conditions)

3rd statement is correct; skiing as you describe is dangerous, you won't agree so don't bother.

This is a bit extreme don't you think? again, there are people here who I know whose parents or grand parents were Holocaust victims, a modicom of restraint and would be appropriate. Again, it all about you and wnat you want to do......

I am on TGR and enjoy it very much, it's not a hard community to get along with. You just have to understand the rules; something you seem to have a problem comprehending.

Oh, so I see Finndog that it is perfectly appropriate to make implied death threats about BoredatBMBW (from Benito himself), and make a joke about it (from RetardinPA), but then when I remind BW about people like him receiving the same it is not OK because "you know" Holocaust victims.   I know the families of Holocaust victims too.

Modicum of respect?  You know what man, screw off.  You are a disgraceful individual.

OMFG... you loser from NJ... effing put a cork in it.  SHUT UP

thanks! I assume at this point you are just trolling for some thing to do.....

wow, it's like looking inside a person's brain, all gooey and indecipherable. you need popcorn if you're going to look very long...popcorn.gif those comments about 1) age and 2) extermination are creepy. I'm old (older than "50 something") and Jewish and now perhaps mentally deficient, so you definitely found your mark. this is your form of going fast on a groomer, spraying trite insults at everyone on the hill (thread)

the miscommunication about safety on groomers may be the very subjective nature of the word "fast". one person's fast is another persons medium. It would be funny if you were defending fast but skiing medium. hmmmm. rolleyes.gif

I'm not in a bad mood these days, or being negative really, just enjoying disagreeing with some ideas. suck, suck, suck has been a multi-thread joke for a couple days.

+1 that TGR is a fun forum to hang out at. some cursing never hurt anyone. dumb skiing, now that's a horse of another camber.

What are you doing?  How old are you?  What has been the content of you last 5 posts?   enough said, loser.

As for "trolling," well, the inflammatory statements can be traced back to davluri's posts in this thread, and actually another as well.

WOW!

Relax a bit, eh!

First of all there were no death threats.  Bushwhacker and others who posted the quotes you referenced were making commenting on how dangerous skiing on crowded blue groomers is.

Finndog is an experienced skier in a couple continents, even if his location is NJ.  The reason he gets along well on TGR and EpicSki is because he shows respect for other members.   A lesson you may do well to learn from.

Now, count to 10 and come back to play.

TC, I'm afraid this isn't true.  He is a closet asshole.  Just about all of his posts has hints of bitterness.

I was plenty respectful until the woodworker from Squaw came in and laid on insults and inflammatory statements.

If somebody doesn't enjoy groomers, they probably don't know how to ski them well.

Finndog is one of the least bitter posters on this, or any, forum.

While its true that you're mostly respectful, this thread has seemed to bring out some serious bitterness in your posts that is not shown in your posting history.

Sorry Bored, but the dander got up after you posted this (see quoted below) and failed to take criticism of unsafe skiing;

Quote:
I would offer that while some like the challenge of dodging obstacles in the backwoods (like BW and his trees), some enjoy dodging moving bodies on the groomed pistes... add the dynamic and often uncertain motion, and it becomes an even more challenging game than contending with stationary objects.

I should probably not have written that how I did... but sometimes I do enjoy skiing on pistes with other people, and if you know what you are doing this is not dangerous.

I later noted repeatedly that sometimes you have to slow down with alot of people.  I never actually said I enjoy "dodging" people at speed.  If the run is empty, then in is really not different from anywhere else on the mountain.  And further, the thin argument about being a danger to others could be applied to the whole mountain, the lodge, the lockerroom, the lifts, anywhere.

But really, TGR is a haven for pedophiles, among other things... and the site allows the lewd posting.

You are just like a neanderthal, participating in communal assault.  The funny thing is cro-magnons romanced your best looking women, and then killed off the rest of you worthless hominids.
