I would like anyones opinion to help me decide if I buy a pair of used skis. I am looking at a pair of Salomon Scream 10 Pilots. I beleive they are the first year model from two years ago, they are burnt orange in color. Anyway they are in great condition, only some surface scratches but perfect on the bottom. Asking price is $325. Thanks for any suggestions.

I skied on a pair a couple of years ago when they 1st came out! Way to soft for me. I am 6' and 185LBS.

But, what length are they? How much do you weigh? How tall are you? What kind of skiing do you do? What level of skier are you?
Where do you usually ski?

Sounds like they are a little high in price, $250 with
bindings would be about right.

The first year Pilot 10s had a foam core and tended to be too soft for high speeds or hard snow. Salomon stiffened the ski up the second year and put in a wood core. The second year ski is a much better advance ski. Because of this the value of first year Pilots has dropped substantially. They were selling new with full warrantee for $400 last season. Depending on the type of snow you ski and your size the first year Pilot might suit you well (if you lived out East I would definitely say don't buy them).

Rio,
I would agree with everything you said. The first season Pilot 10s were similar to the 8s of the second. If it was under $200, and you accepted their limitations, then go for them, but I wouldn't pay more than that.
