Contest for the EpicSkis: Tell us how you would show off the skis and include the EpicSki community in the experience.

David and Mariella Mazzarella, founders of SkiLogik and purveyors of perhaps the most aesthetically pleasing skis in the world (and they ski great!), are offering a pair of custom "EpicSkis" as the grand prize in a contest to kick-off the new ski season. The EpicSkis are a custom pair of Ullr's Chariot skis with the leaping tiger graphic of the Howitzer, designed by Mariella. As Andrew said in his enthusiastic review August 23, "It's an epic ski for an average ski price, not to mention that it IS the prettiest ski I've ever seen."

We're dedicating four weeks to the contest, with the grand prize winner to be selected by David and Mariella and announced on EpicSki October 14. In addition to the grand prize, we'll be giving away one Tahoe Card per week to a lucky entrant, courtesy of our good friends at Snowbomb.com

I should mention that the skis have a retail value of about $1000, being as they are custom. The skis are 178 cm. in length. Sidecut is 145/101/131 with a 15m turning radius (!). See the Ullr's Chariot page on EpicSki for more info.

I have the skis here at my house. They are -- what adjective? -- gorgeous, exquisite, must be stroked, looked at this way'n'that...and reviews of how this ski performs are very exciting. Where would you go with these babies?

Nowhere.  They're too long for me and I don't have the money to go anywhere anyway.  If they were shorter I'd still use them here.

To borrow from another thread... Man, those skis really tie the room together.

@sibhusky - Well, they do have a twin tip, so they'd ski a bit shorter than that at least.

They would look great mounted on my FEET!

I have a pair of the Howitzers and absolutely love them.

They're so pretty I'd want clear bindings...

I'd have to give them to Mr. skibum and they'd probably make him want to ski more often, so I can live with that.                  snowfalling.gif

Taos would get a view of these beauties, if they were under my feet. And if the stock market's kind then a few days of Aspen for the terrain of dreams. I'd float the soft days away in the trees, avoid the courderoy like the plague and hope for more, more snow clouds to hide the winter sun and add to the deep, dry powder.

I'm looking forward to going off in the power first at powder Mt. of course as well as Snow Basin and then all of the other Utah venues, Deer Valley , Park city and the Canyons. Then following south east storms hitting the Cottonwood canyons,  Alta and Snow Bird then Solitude and Brighton depending on avalanche control.  After a really good southern storm I'll attack Sundance for a day.  Returning to each venue as the Utah powder storms dictate.

Last year I ordered some LOOK Pivots from Phil to put on another pair of skis.  Instead, I mounted them on my Ullr's because less of the the marquetry was covered with that binding.  It was the only time in my 50 years of skiing that I purchased a binding because of the way the ski looks.

Anyhow, I love the way it skis.  The tops are surprisingly durable, as are the bases.  I won't likely win the skis since I already own the model, but perhaps some other skiing god or goddess (other than Ullr) will send me a Tahoe Card.

Reiterating the Contest Rules:

Yes, one entry per person, unlimited editing. It must be your original work, too.

Editing seems to be turned off in the contest thread at the moment? The button's missing from my post.

Great contest, great prizes, best of luck to all bears.  I'll pass on entering because I doubt I'll make it to Tahoe anytime soon, but seeing that is the command central for this season it makes sense for most.

Looking forward to some "creative" entries.  Bring on the rich media stoke!

I'm probably going to be in Costa Rica a good chunk of ski season this year so I will respectfully bow out of competing with other Bears for the skis and Tahoe Pass. Hopefully someone will enjoy those beauties.

this is just a test post, please ignore.

Here's the schedule for the Tahoe Card Giveaway part of this contest:

The first card will be randomly selected on Sept. 18 from the entries up to midnight Sept. 17; consecutive drawings will follow weekly until October 8. Your best chance to win is to enter before midnight Sept. 17.

If you win a card, we sure hope to see you at the Gathering at Tahoe Feb. 26-March 3, 2012!

I posted an entry yesterday and discovered a spelling error today which I would like to fix, but the little pencil icon for editing is gone.  Is there a way I can still edit?

My planets must not be aligned properly! Can't ski 'til April due to my new store opening, so the Tahoe tix are out. The skis, while they look great, are just way too short for me.

So good luck to all, I'll check out the contest thread, it should be good for a juckle.Ott+Wedeln.gif

The edit pencil is back.  Thanks!  I've added a little to mine too.

Nolo, Tahoe is not happening for me this year.  Can I be pulled out of the Tahoe Card part of this thing?   You may well see me around Bridger for a couple of days though.

Would gladly take extra entries for the skis instead.  duck.gif.

Thanks for holding back on the Tahoe Card drawing, Stranger. Let me know when you'll be at Bridger!

You can also hold me out of the drawing.  There's no chance I can get to Tahoe this year.
