Adjustable bindings and ski length

In the never ending search for the perfect one ski quiver, I'm wondering how much an adjustable binding such as the Marker Schizos can enhance the versatility of a given ski.  For someone who likes to ski everything from bumps to trees to bowls and powder, can the versatility truly make a difference?

More specifically, if caught in between ideal length skis, is it better to have a slightly longer ski and adjust forward to ski bumps and hard snow, or go slightly shorter and adjust back when lucky enough to catch powder?

Opinions greatly appreciated.

My opinion is they are great if you want a 'park ski' that can also be used 'all mountain', they allow for a true center mount point and a mount point that is back far enough to be versatile out of the park. On a more traditional ski they will add a small amount of versatility but the won't make a ski that's the wrong size feel like the right size, or a carving ski feel like a powder ski. What they will do is allow you to find a point on the ski that maximizes your ability to like it.
