Is foot size ever considered when sizing skis?

If not, should it be?  Is it considered related to height so ignored?  Or just ignored in general?

Sorry for the noob question but skiing isn't first hobby anymore so I don't really pay attention to this stuff much.  As a surfer it has always bothered me that shapers never ask my foot size.  Height, weight, ability, where it will be used are all the standard questions (sound familiar?).  However, a surfboard will react differently under someone with a size 8 foot and someone with a size 13.  Likewise, won't skis react differently - flex, edging, etc.?

It seems to me that someone with a larger foot should be on a longer ski (duh - they will most likely be taller) but also slightly wider compared to someone with a smaller foot - everything else being equal.

No?  Am I just talking out my butt again?  Just curious because I've never been asked how big my foot is when buying skis.

This would be my guess.  Makes sense for 99% of the population (there are always outliers, of course).

Unless you have abnormally large feet I don't think foot size is going to matter all that much. I would guess that weight would be more important when determining a ski size. I mean your foot is sort of locked into your boot and binding unlike surfing where it is more free to move around.

I have never heard about foot size actually making a difference when choosing a ski, but then again maybe Bigfoot and his family don't like to ski.

BINGO!

Your foot isn't applying force to the ski the way a foot is applying force to a surfboard (or snowboard, which foot size is factored into), the 'levers' are all ankle up. It's irrelevant.
