what bindings should I get for Armada JJ's ???

Hey guys,

Hope all of you are having a great summer. So I'm getting some armada JJ's for my birthday and I was wondering what bindings I should get for them. I"m 5'9" 180lbs and I'm getting a 175 length in the JJ's. I"ll mainly be using them for powder\soft  day's and skiing in the trees.. thinking 40% west coast and 60% east coast. My style is I ski fast, do drops/jumps and love making lots of turns in tight places..so I need something that responds quick in the trees so I don't hurt nature :)

I like bindings that have a little lift to them ( to absorb landings some) not totally flat on the ski.

what bindings do you guys suggest ??

Just want to get some Ideas before I talk to my ski shop so I'm not going in blind..

thanks guys !!

I have my mantra's in a 184, so I wanted something shorter and more versatile in soft snow that's why I went with the 175. I'm not looking for speed as I am float and better movement in tight spots..

Ok. Its all good.

I would suggest Look PX jib or something of that ilk. They have the rubber base for shock absorption and ski very nice as well.

At least think about swapping for 185s. The Mantra comparison does not hold - the Mantra (this probably applies to the new one too)  is a very conventional cambered ski with a long sidecut length & effective edge vs the short-sidecut 5-point hybrid rocker design of the JJ. I'd expect a JJ style ski even much longer than your Mantra to be far more nimble in soft snow.

On skis like JJs, most folks prefer low stand height, low ramp angle bindings. For reasons some generic searching will likely reveal. Consider STH14 (either toe), FKS/Pivot 14 or Jester... there are lots of good choices.

Mantras will ski longer than 185 JJs....size up if you can.

Still looking for a solid binding suggestion though..

I do like the marker Jester bindings..so I'm looking into that..  any other suggestions ?

Good call. The way you described your skiing style in the OP, the 175 seemed like a bit of a stretch.

I usually ski stuff from look / dynastar. The pivots are back but I never had issue with the PX12 for resort use so I haven't upgraded to the more expensive pivot heel pieces. Seems like Solly and marker are just as good quality wise. Just pick a one.

Jester/Griffons, PX series, FKS, and head/tyrolia peaks are all solid options
