I think Whistler is a pretty decent bet.

Banff can be iffy.  We had a great season 5 years ago when almost everything (including the dive) was open in November. Snow was decent last season, but Avy danger was a real issue in the first half of the season. The other seasons have been hit or miss. In my opinion, the best month for skiing Banff is March..followed by April then February.

Fernie can be a decent choice for Mid-Late December. The BC resorts generally ski better than Banff from Mid December to Mid February/Early March.

I was thinking Colorado or Banff, he was thinking Switzerland.......

The Alps offer some good bets for early skiing too. Cervinia, for one.

Tignes and Val d'Isere usually have decent conditions in December as well (the glaciers help). The Ski Club of GB always has a couple of early-season off-piste trips there, and I've had great conditions the couple of times I've been there in mid-December.

Wow!  When did the Alps get to North America?  I missed that one.

I think I inadvertently caused that Alps comment.  I offhandedly mentioned I was looking for somewhere to go early season as well, possibly Colorado, but could also hit Switzerland/Europe.  The Alps came back as a potential destination.  Didn't mean to cause a thread derail, my bad.

Don't worry about it.  I was just joshin' around.
