New skis for my sis, what to get?

My sis is 5'3" 115 and wants me to find her some new skis to replace some Fischers that are 3-4 years old. Something mid 80 to low 90 waist, that is pretty lively. I never really see her get them on edge and rail turns if that makes a difference. An all mountain ski, as she will go down anything, I just wouldn't say it is always pretty.  This will be for firm days, as she likes her Phat Luvs for a powder day. So what do you suggest? I was thinking a 163 Volkl Kenja or Dynastar 165 Exclusive Legend Eden.

Line Celebrity.  My sister is 5'5", 120, straight up rips, and skis them in the 165 as her daily driver both here and out west.  On powder days, she takes out her 175 Sumos and kills it.  She is not a park skier, just all mountain shredding...

What does she want them for? carving zoomer-groomers, bumps, park, all mountain?

If she likes fischer, why not the Watea line? They have a 78 that would help her carve better but still be good in moguls and steeps and then there is an 84 that would be a little more soft-snow centric. If she lives in Colorado like you do, then a ski that will take the bumps well seems important. The Wateas are very forgiving but will stand up to a good skier.

The Volkl Aurora gets a lot of praise as does the Blizzard Black Pearl. I've not skied those, but do like the Watea as a good all-around ski.K2 makes a whole line of women's skis she might look at since she likes her Phat Luvs.

Bottom line is  you will get a thousand answers like the one above and like mine recommending skis that someone else likes. She should demo.

BTW, it is interesting you say she wants a 'lively' ski when she likes the Phat Luv, which I found dead as a doornail. Goes to show, different strokes....

Mostly what Mom said.  We need to know more of what she wants to get out of the ski.

Where is she going to ski these mostly?

You said she has a Phat luv for her powder ski so she may like something like the Blizzard viva 8.1, Rossi temptation, Dynastar Eden, Nordica Cinnamon Girl .....

Of those that I tested,  the new Blizzard Viva 8.1, and the Cinnamon Girl but the biggest grins on my face (in this class of skis)

Mom and TC, as I said, this is a firm conditions, all mountain ski, as she will go down pretty much anything (so the entire mountain at Mammoth) Lively in a pow ski isn't a requirement, on hard pack, firm off piste it is. As I said, I have never seen her rail an edge, but maybe there is hope for her someday. I will do some research on the suggestions and get back to her with the summation, as she suffers from ADD and can't do her own research.wink.gif  Actually, she likes to remind me her little bro is just her bitchrolleyes.gif  Thanks for your opinions

If she cannot demo or doesn't want to demo, then you may at least want to take advantage of summer sales just in case she ends up not liking them. I recommend checking out the sale skis at starthaus.com and o2gearshop.com. Both of these organizations seemed to have purchased off-price leftovers from some ski manufacturers and are selling them at really low prices. BTW, if you order from O2gearshop.com make sure you only order items that are listed as in stock (it will show you a number of how many are available).
