They are not what you would call "faint hearted"

Adj. 1. faint-hearted - lacking conviction or boldness or courage; "faint heart ne'er won fair lady"
cowardly, fearful - lacking courage; ignobly timid and faint-hearted; "cowardly dogs, ye will not aid me then"- P.B.Shelley

This might be an interesting Olympics.

I think that was a little bigger than expected.

I skied a few times in that region smile.gif.  Good mountains, rudimentary infrastruture.  The Olympics are in Sochi, that's not too close to Cheget.

In Soviet Russia, avalanche control YOU!

they were still thinking those who turn and run get a bullet in their chest

No, dude, they actually bomb the slopes, but they do use artillery for that.  Admittedly the terrain is bigger, so I am not sure they could ever bomb it US style (i.e. patrol throwing charges from the top).    Besides, as you can see from the video, artillery works very well, sometimes too well.  That place also can have major dumps in winter.

This just shows that the russian economy is in the dumpster:

1. they used conventional weapons,

2. artillery, instead of carpet bombing - WTF

3. note to self - NEVER CUT THE ROPE IN RUSSIA
