Hi guys. Here's my story.
Last year was my first time skiing. Went with a couple of friends, all of whom were good skiers/snowboarders, and by the third day I was riding along with them on the black diamonds. By the seventh day everybody was giving me props for my balls... and they were being honest.
We went to Tahoe on February, and we experienced one of the most epic days of 2011 (according to everybody). If you were in Tahoe you know which day I'm talking about (end of February... day after the storm).
This february, due to my clothes, I wasn't able to bang this cute Argentinian girl working on Heavenly. I had a borrowed jacket that looked like I was in the military, and had about 3 layers of cotton underneath it. She was like, "Seriously? You think you're gonna bang me looking like that?".
This year I want to look good on the mountain.
The way I see it, I'll only ski for 7-8 days a year, and I'll go to either Tahoe, Vail or Whistler. I don't think I'll experience severe weather, so please take that into account when you recommend me some jackets.
I will take the lift to the top of the mountain, but won't go back country or anything.
So, being a total newbie, not knowing the difference between a hard or soft shell, I'm here humbly asking for your advice.
The Helly Hansen Verglass caught my attention, but I noticed it's a hard shell. Is that what I'm looking for given my situation? I planned on using a 260 Icebreaker merino base layer, and wasn't sure about the midlayer.
Thanks for your time, guys.
