JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Ski Resort General Manager
(Full-Time, Year-Round, Exempt)
Description
The Incline Village General Improvement District is accepting applications for a Ski Resort General Manager to lead and manage
Diamond Peak Ski Resort; supervise staff and manage resources consistent with the administrative direction of the General Manager.
The incumbent performs high level administrative, technical, and professional work in furthering the activities and operations of the
ski resorts programs and activities.
Position Responsibilities (this list is not all inclusive of job duties and responsibilities).
Provides excellent guest service to internal and external guests. Directs and coordinates operations of Ski Resort; interfaces with and
assists staff to ensure effective and efficient operations are in place to meet guest service standards. Develops, administers and
recommends the annual operating budget, including revenue forecasts, and capital improvement budget for the Ski Division; monitors
and controls budgets utilizing a computerized financial accounting system. Administers the District's Ski Master Plan; oversees,
coordinates and implements phase-in of the plan's components. Leads the development and implementation of the Ski Division's
financial and operational goals, objectives, policies and priorities. Monitors performance and effectiveness, adjusting operations as
necessary to meet or exceed revenue goals. Plans and develops Ski staff training and development programs, and establishment of
standards for guest service. Establishes guidelines for Ski pass, ticket and other Ski product pricing policies by developing annual
yield targets. Prepares and makes presentations to the Board of Trustees on Ski related agenda items. Serves as a member of
Leadership Team; participates in formulating and administering District policies and developing long range goals and objectives.
Confers and negotiates with Federal, State, County and other regulatory agencies on a wide variety of matters related to operation of
Diamond Peak Ski Resort. Explores new concepts in Ski and other recreational or business industries to determine possible benefits of
implementation. Develops and maintains community programs and campaigns to encourage open lines of communication and support
from residents and businesses of Incline Village and Crystal Bay; plans and coordinates Ski services and activities as they affect the
District, the community and the skiing public. Confers with the General Manager and other administrative personnel to review
progress toward goals, operating results, etc., and discuss changes in goals and/or operating methods required to meet revenue targets,
budgets, etc.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (BA) in Business Administration, Ski Area Management, or related field from four-year college or university and
ten years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in ski area management and operations and five years in a managerial
position, and experience in all ski service functions (snow management, ski school, food and beverage, equipment rental and repair),
marketing, long range planning, and construction projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A successful
record of financial performance is also required.
Other Skills or Abilities
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication (including ability to handle crisis communication as needed), planning, business,
financial, and guest service skills; excellent presentation and negotiation skills; computer skills for word processing, spreadsheet,
project management and financial accounting applications; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a
broad range of individuals and groups; ability to maintain composure when dealing with irate customers; ability to manage a large,
diverse operation; ability to ski and/or snowboard all levels of terrain; ability to deal with changing circumstances in a positive
manner; possess valid driver’s license; ability to work in adverse weather conditions and work a schedule that includes weekends and
holidays.
Compensation
Salary $90,730 to $106,579 per year, depending on experience. This position receives a fantastic benefit package including: company
paid medical, dental, vision (employee/dependent), short and long term disability, company-paid pension plan, 457 Deferred Comp
plan, Section 125 Flex plan, vacation and sick leave, holiday pay, food discounts and recreation privileges at District facilities.

Just curious, Scots...What do you mean, they need a "real professional"? Just in case I want to apply for the job, I want to make sure I am a "real" professional! smile.gif. I'm new to the area, so I'm not sure, but I'm guessing there is some community disgruntled-ness (is that even a word) about something.

You should do some background research on local situation and current issues and ask yourself why there have been 2 sudden resignations from the management team
