Obscure (and not so obscure) Ski Photos

Realizing this is somewhat of a long shot, but...

I'm a photo intern at SKI Mag, looking for some good-quality gear photos for a ski history article in an upcoming issue. If you have any lovingly-composed shots of the Volant Spatula, Volant Chubb, Atomic Powder Magic/Plus, Kastle B-52, or Rossignol Plume (circa 1965) please send me a message.

AND, if you happen to have anything on Jet-Stix, the Nava System, or by some miracle the Olin Albert (of which there seems to be 0 photos in existence), then you should REALLY send me a message.

Thanks!

Would you please decribe what you consider 'lovingly-composed shots'?

Try scouting around: More Retro memories???? Many members of this forum collect gear, magazines, photos and stories.

Need any product testers? smile.gif

Chubbs are retro? Thats the second newest pair that I use. A pair of the shortest Volant V2 Chubbs they made. I could probably stage a new pic if your interested in V2 Chubbs.

@ MasterRacer: Loving-composed = your best ski pr0n, wouldn't look terribly out-of-place in the magazine. I definitely saw a lot of stuff in the retro memories, only problem is matching the old posts to people who are regular contributors. But, I think you're right, its probably worth some more digging.

Philpug may have a video of himself with the Nava system?

I think I posted an ad for the Nava system in More retro memories.

You may find some old photos of what you want in the Skiing Heritage Journal.  Did you look there?

The significance of the Plume was that it broke a lot, and that is when glass was added to skis.  If I have the history right, soon after came the Strato and VR-17.  Later the VR's even had cracked edges.  The old Strato /Strato 102 is still one of the best looking (and understated) skis ever made IMHO.

Was it in an older Popular Mechanics magazine? If so I found it. But if you have a free-standing ad (not part of an article) I'd love to see it.

Did someone say Chubbs?  I took the liberty of locating a couple of VolantAddict's quiver photos

Well this is the perfect segue into my latest quiver pic; I didn't get one up last fall before the season got going, and this is the first time they've all been inside since the season started in November (I had to take my AT rig out of the car so I could carry tires to the shop to swap out my snow tires for my street tires, but fret not, I'm not done skiing yet wink.gif).

Now, that's a flock of Chubbs!

Very cool.

I'd also like to see every other one turned around to see the graphics on the bases. Volant has had some wild bases.

and the RAD DOGS!!!!!!

Even though Phil's review of the Nava System was less than glowing, I would still like to try them. These boots are too small. I can't get into them at all let alone with pain.
