It is my opinion that front-helmet mounts for the GoPro are a recipe for disaster... in the event of a head-first fall/superman, the head will be twisted and torqued to one side as it is thrust against the snow, greatly increasing the risk for a broken neck, or really bad muscle strains in the neck (which cause a whole host of ugly neurological symptoms).
I was a victim of such a fall, and not sure I ever want to ski with the GoPro on the front of my helmet again.
It seems the chest mount could be exceedingly dangerous in the event of chest impact.
So, is the safest place the TOP of the helmet?
(or, truly, is there going to be some risk no matter what)?
Also, perhaps is the Contour a safer device to wear?
